The Struggles in Life
From the movie: The 3 Idiots

College life is never that easy because it's our phase in life where we should strive and
focus on our study because it would be a starting line for our future. It would lead us to a
direction where we will be able to fulfill our dreams in life from the very start.

In the movie, “The 3 Idiots”, it just simply portrays our lives in college. It may be hard  to
survive every obstacle that may come our way but what’s important is that we remained strong in
order to achieve our goals in life. As the saying goes, “no pain no gain”. We will never gain or
have the things that we always wanted to achieve if we did not invest on it and do everything that
we can in order to have it.

The movie is lead by the three characters, Rancho, Raju and Farhan. Each one of them
has their own characteristics and dreams in life and they have distinct talents and skills in which
it helps them to achieve what they have become in the future.
Over the course of the movie, I confidently can say that I am similar to the 3 characters,
partially. Rancho, one of the main characters in 3 idiots symbolizes people who are goes to
school not for the high grades where people races at, but for the knowledge they could learn in
school. Throughout the movie, he didn't even once competed against his other fellow students.
He values life, as he values his friends. He makes sure that his friends makes critically analyzed
decisions in life that won't lead them to regrets in life by following their hearts intent. Rancho
knows himself very well, his strength and weaknesses. Rancho is also an engineer, slash scientist
and he loves disassembling machines, some he cannot assemble again. I could say that I am
similar to Rancho. I value my friends and families. It is a blessing that I have them for they
support me in every decisions I make. I don't compete against my classmates, I help them of
anything that I know. I am not selfish of my knowledge, I share them to those who asks me. I
also loves playing around with machines. In that aspect, I wanted to be an engineer in the future.
Some people are after the salary, but I am after the satisfaction of building something that is very
useful for everyone, and money so that I can give my parents what they want, or what they need.
I want to make them feel that their sacrifices were not put to waste.
Raju Rastogi studies to help his family and to end their poverty. His mother is a very
hardworking woman, his father used to be a driver but is now paralyzed. Raju is afraid of taking
risks, he prefers being in the comfort zone. He never takes challenges for he is afraid he might
not pass through them. I, is also not a risk-taker kind of person. I am afraid I might fail my
friends and families’ expectations. The difference between Raju and me, is that he takes his
families’ expectation a very serious threat. He always has breakdowns every time he makes
something that is not what his families expect. One time in the movie, he was subjected to fail,
he cried and fought his friends verbally. He even ignored them for days. I take my families
expectation as a motivation, and also they expects me to be that because they wanted me to have
a better life in the future. Every time I fail, they tell me to do better next time. They always
encourage me, they motivates me and I am always thankful for that. Every time I fail, I just don’t
sit and cry, I do research on how to improve myself for the future. After all, I wanted myself to
be successful one day. I don’t want to stay on my past, but rather continue being a survivor of
mg past mkstakes. Past is past, never get stuck in your mistake, continue for life must go on.
Farhan Qureshi is a wildlife photographer turned to engineer because that is what his
father wants him to be. He was forced to be and engineer because his father was after the
engineer’s salary. His father’s thought was poisoned by money, not even concerned of what his
son wants to be. Farhan’s family financially supports him, even if they don't feel comfort for
themselves at home because they are gambling for his son’s future. My parents are like Farhan’s,
they support me financially. Their difference was that they don’t force me of what they wanted
me to be, but rather what is my dream. They are the best parents for the give me what I want and
what I need. I promise in the future, I will not fail them of their expectation. I will be one of
those who have finally finished studies and have work so that my parents will never be tired
again from working.
The movie “The 3 Idiots” showcases of what college life is. This movie shows that
college is not about survival in college, but rather how you take the challenges in life. We should
never compete against others, instead, help them achieve their dreams. We should always be
positive and refreshing in our outlook in life. How hard it may be, but if you take risks and looks
at them as a challenge towards being a successful person, you will surely surpass them. I am still
a student, I make mistakes and sometimes fail. But I don’t stop learning, I absorb them, I accept
them as a motivation. Having breakdowns will only worsen your situation. We don’t need
winners, we need survivors of these tough challenges life has to offer. Never give up and believe
in yourself that you can do it. Live your life to the fullest, as if it is your last day. To all people
out there, especially students, never give up, never back down, don’t retreat, go on and achieve
your dream. Never take life as a race. All is well.
