At the end of the lesson, the learner must be able to explore job opportunities for
Entrepreneurship as a career

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AS A CAREER

Entrepreneur
A person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than
normal financial risks
• “Negosyante”

COMPETENCIES
• Specific Goal Setting= Entrepreneurs should be motivated to set goals, particularly
business growth objectives.
• Self-Efficacy= Entrepreneurs must believe in their own ability or self-confidence.
• Need for Achievement= Entrepreneurs must have a high need for achievement to take
responsibility for outcomes.
• Ambition= Entrepreneurs must be motivated, persistent, and persevere even in the face
of situational challenges.
• Willingness to Learn=Entrepreneurs should have a strong willingness to learn often
pursue opportunities to acquire new skills and competencies.
• Strong Initiative=Entrepreneurs must have a high initiative are often driven to work
hard.
• Adaptability and Flexibility= Entrepreneurs must learn how to deal very well with a
unique ability to choose actions even without all necessary information

Entrepreneurship Jobs
1. Small Business Owners – you finance your own business (example: Kakanin online sellers)
Business consultants – Business companies/establishments/other entrepreneurs ask for
advice from you regarding the success of their business
2. Business reporters – Be in the news to talk about business
3. Fund raisers and development officers – Help raise funds (money) for certain purposes
(example for a political candidate, foundation etc.)
4. Sales managers – Employed in a store/establishment (example: manager of malls)
5. New venture/Developers - work in a company or in your own company and start selling a
new product or develop a new product or a new line of business.
6. Teaching/faculty – as an Entrepreneurial degree holder one may teach in schools in
Entrepreneurship subjects.

Job Areas:
•Own business – having your own company/busines
•Job in industries – in different companies/establishments
•Jobs in mid-level Management – in establishments like supervisors in a grocery store
•Accounting – work in an accounting firm or in an accounting division of a company
•Office Administration – in different offices (Administrative office of Robinsons mall)
•Sales - member of the sales team of a company or establishment
•Economics - in companies or government
agencies concerned with economics
•Business Consultant – Free-lance or employed in
company doing business consultations
•Business Reporter – in a news channel or network
•Financial Analyst – free-lance or employed in
companies doing financial analysis
•Marketing Manager – in companies or your own
business doing marketing strategies to increase sales
