Where does volcanic gases come from?

It is composed mainly of water, carbon dioxide, and sulfur

dioxide during violent eruptions, these gases are injected into the stratosphere. Volcanic gases are given
off by active volcanoes. Magma contains dissolved gases, which provide the driving force that causes
most volcanic eruptions.

Do you know why volcanic gases is dangerous for people? It it because the sulfur dioxide that volcanic
gases contain, can cause breathing problems in both healthy people and people with asthma and other
respiratory problem. It can also damage your eye sights.

Did you know that volcanic gases can also affect environment? It is because volcanic gases has the
potential to promote global warming. Volcanic gases expand enormously when magma rises to the
Earth’s surface and erupts.

For people who have to go near an active gas vent, the use of a gas mask is strongly advised to avoid
inhaling toxic volcanic fumes.

99% of the gas molecules emitted during a volcanic eruption are water vapor, carbon dioxide, and sulfur
dioxide. The remaining 1 percent is compromised of small amounts of hydrogen sulfide, carbon
monoxide, hydrogen chloride, and other minor gas species.

Even if you smell just a little bit of volcanic gas, it will automatically irritate your lungs and mucous
membranes. It can affect how your lungs work. Volcanic smog may also affect your immune system.

There are no types of volcanic gas; however, it has significant amounts of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide,
hydrogen sulfide, and hydrogen halides.
