SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE


SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE com WILL

A) Expressa uma ação futura.

B) Faz previsoes: It will rain tomorrow.

C) Para intenções ou promessas: I'll (= I will) buy you a cake.

D) Para requisições e convites: Will you hold the door open for me?

E) Para oferecimento: Shall I get your coat for you?

F) Para sugestões: Shall we go for a swim tomorrow?

G) Para ameaças: Just wait! You'll regret this.

H) Para decisões: I'll stop and ask the way.

I) Para coisas que são possíveis mas não certas, com as expressões: MAYBE,
PROBABLY e I THINK:
Maybe I'll come later.
I'll probably come later.
I think I'll come later.

AFIRMATIVA
FORMAÇÃO: Sujeito + Verbo Auxiliar + Verbo Principal no Infinitivo
I will come.

Ex.: He will see you the day after tomorrow.


You will have lots of things to do.
I shall go with you.
We shall take you home.

> NOTA: O verbo SHALL é usado somente com as primeiras pessoas, singular (I) e
plural (we).

> Expressões que acompanham o FUTURE:


Tomorrow; tonight; the day after tomorrow; soon; in... a few days/2 hours/etc; next...
week/month/etc.
NEGATIVA
FORMAÇÃO: Sujeito + WILL NOT (WON'T) + Infinitivo
I won't come.

Ex.: She won't be there.


They won't go to England.
We shan't come tomorrow.

INTERROGATIVA
FORMAÇÃO: WILL + Sujeito + V. Principal ?
Will she go ?

Ex.: Will you do your exercise?


Shall I go next month?
When will I see you?

I - Complete as seguintes sentenças com WILL usando os verbos em parênteses

FUTURE com GOING TO

USO: GOING TO - present

A) Previsões:
- usado quando podemos ver que algo está prestes a acontecer:
Look out! She is going to faint. (Not will)
- usado para descrever alguma coisa que sabemos acontecerá no futuro.
John and Mary are going to get married in May.

B) Intenções: na linguagem informal.


I'm going to practice the piano for 2 hours this evening.
I'm going to be successful one day.

C) Ações planejadas: We're going to spend the winter in Italy.


ou: We are spending the winter in Italy.
ou: We will be spending the winter in Italy.
> NOTA: Para este caso pode ser usado o "going to", presente contínuo ou futuro
contínuo.

AFIRMATIVA
FORMAÇÃO: Sujeito + To Be (presente) + going to + Verbo Principal no Infinitivo

Ex.: I am going to visit


She is going to study for her test.
They are going to visit us tonight.
It is going to be easy.

> ATENÇÃO: O verbo TO GO é geralmente omitido quando aparece como verbo


principal da expressão going to:
We are going to go to the movies tomorrow.
We are going to the movies tomorrow.

A expressão verbal "going to" não é usada para expressar uma ação futura que não
dependa da vontade ou intenção de alguém. Para isso, devemos usar o WILL e não
GOING TO:
He will be ten years old in December.
USO: GOING TO - passado

A) A expressão going to no passado indica, geralmente, uma ação que foi planejada,
mas que por alguma razão não se realizou: We were going to swim, but it rained.

AFIRMATIVA
FORMAÇÃO: Sujeito + To Be (passado) + going to + Verbo Principal no Infinitivo

Ex.: I was going to study.


They were going to do it yesterday, but they were too busy.
We were going to get married in May, but then waited until July.

NEGATIVA
FORMAÇÃO: Sujeito + To Be (passado) + not + going to + Verbo Principal no Infinitivo

Ex.: I wasn't going to dance.


He wasn't going to travel by train but he couldn't get the bus
We weren't going to drive to Boston but we made up our minds.

INTERROGATIVA
FORMAÇÃO: To Be (passado) + Sujeito + going to + Verbo Principal no Infinitivo

Ex.: Was he going to have dinner?


Was she going to go shopping when she fell off her bike?
Were we going to meet at 7? Well, it's already 8 o'clock!

III - Complete com GOING TO ou WILL:

HE: Where (we spend) ______________ the night?


SHE: Cardiff. I've booked us in at the Angel Hotel. Why do you ask?

FUTURE-IN-THE-PAST

A) Ações planejadas para acontecerem no passado.


Usamos: WAS GOING TO, WAS ABOUT TO, WAS TO, WAS DUE TO.

Ex.: I was about to go, when the telephone rang.


They didn't know they were going to be reunited ten years later.
We were just going to leave, when Jean had an accident.
They had already reached 9,000 feet. Soon they would reach the top.
