How to express the future ?

01. Simple present

Arrangements impossible changer(horaires, programmes, transports publics)

ex: My train arrives in Paris at 7.30 tomorrow night


What time does the film begin tomorrow ?
The film starts at 8.15.

02. Present Continuous

Futur planifi et proche fix dans le temps


(= j'ai dj dcid et planifi les choses )

ex: I am leaving tomorrow.


He is playing tennis on Monday afternoon.
What are you doing on Saturday evening ?
I am going to the theatre on Friday.

03. "To be going to" future


(en franais = aller + infinitif)

a)Futur d'intention
(= j'ai l'intention de faire des choses mais ce n'est peut-tre pas encore planifi)

ex: The windows are dirty.


I know. I am going to clean them later.

b) Futur de conviction
(= la situation nous fait penser maintenant que les choses vont se produire)

ex: Look at those black clouds. It's going to rain.


I feel terrible. I think I'm going to be sick.

04. Simple future

I will phone him I will not phone him Will you phone him ?
will = 'll will not = won't

NB :
1) Vous pouvez utilisez "will" (not) + infinitif sans "to" toutes les personnes
2) Vous rencontrerez aussi "shall" la place de "will" pour la 1re pers. sg et pl
I shall , we shall = I 'll, we'll
I shall not, we shall not = I shan't, we shan't
REM : aussi utilis pour des offres ou des suggestions
What shall we do tonight ?
Shall we go swimming ?
Shall I do the shopping for you ? = Do you want me to do the shopping for you ?

a) Futur dcid au moment o l'on parle

ex: Oh, the door is open. I'll go and shut it.


I feel a bit hungry. I think I'll have something to eat.
I don't think I'll go out tonight. I'm too tired.

b) Futur utilis pour des promesses, des prvisons, des accords , des offres de service,
des demandes, des refus

ex: I won't tell anyone what happened. ( promesse)


Do you think Ann will pass the exam ? Yes, she'll pass easily. prvision)
Can I have my book back ? Of course, I'll give it to you this afternoon.
(accord)
That bag looks heavy. I'll help you with it. (offre de service)
Will you please be quiet ? I'm trying to concentrate. (demande)

c) Futur invitable qui ne dpend pas de quelque chose

ex: He 'll be 15 next month.

Remarque :
Futur utilis avec les mots : probably, I expect, I'm sure, I think , I wonder
ex : I think she will phone this evening
Prsent utilis aprs : I hope ex : I hope Ann phones this evening

05. The future continuous

Le futur continu sert exprimer qu'une action sera en train de se passer un moment
donn.
On le formule en mettant le prsent continu au futur :

will be + verbe + ing.

ex: I will be waiting for you at six o'clock. (Je vous attendrai six heures.)
He will be eating by the time you arrive. (Il sera en train de dner quand
vous arriverez.)

Remarque :
Comment distinguer entre le futur progressif et le futur simple ? S'il est possible de traduire la phrase
en utilisant "tre en train de", c'est le futur progressif qu'il faut.
