AMBULANCE CONTINGENCY PLAN DURING VEHICLE AND EQUIPMENT

BREAKDOWN DRIVERS RESPONSIBILITY


The ambulance driver is responsible in case of ambulance or equipment breakdown during
transfer of patient, the is responsible to stay with the vehicle and ensure that the vehicle and
patient are secured or safe and follows all breakdown procedures

NOTIFICATION PROCEDURESAFETY PROCEDURES


In the event of disabled ambulance stopped on the travelled portion or shoulder of a roadway,
and the ambulance driver should:
Immediately turn on vehicle hazard warning signals
Set up emergency warning devices
Call for back up immediately
In the event of immediate emergency call for back up

The driver should call MCH to communicate the situation, provide exact location, assessment of
the situation, status of the patient, and record the time of incident until back up service arrive
For equipment breakdowns, identify the equipment and immediately report to MCH for possible
replacement/repair
