1. Scope
This document applies to connections between the XN-9000/9100 and a conveyor unit designed by a company

other than Sysmex.

Note that this document does not assure connections in every configuration pattern, and thus assumes that

connection conditions should be separately discussed on a case-by-case basis.

2. General
This document provides interface specifications required for connecting between the XN-9000/9100 and a

conveyor unit designed by a company other than Sysmex (hereinafter called “External Unit”).

In particular, this document provides specifications for the systems where racks are carried from/to the External

Unit to/from the XN-9000/9100.

3. Related Documents

6.4. Rack dimensions and samples direction in rack

The above figure shows samples placed in the rack viewed from the front of the device.

6.5. Requirements for receiving/feeding samples rack

(1) Feeding rack into XN-9000/9100

The External Unit must feed the rack into the XN-9000/9100 through its rack entry (end of the device) at least

2/3 of the rack.

(2) Receiving rack from XN-9000/9100

The External Unit has to be able to receive the rack when it comes out of the XN-9000/9100 rack exit (end of

the device) by 1/2 of the rack.

12
R315039
7. Specification for Electrical Connections
Either of the following 2 interface types (XN-9000/9100 and HST-N) can be selected as the I/O cable interface to
connect to the XN-9000/9100.

*The connector pin assignment for the HST-N interface is the same as the one specified for HST-N interfaces
with external units. A conversion cable is needed to connect to the D-Sub 25-pin connector on the back of the
XN-9000/9100 unit.

The location of interface connectors on each device is as follows:

7.3. Control Signals
Use the signals listed below to feed and receive racks.

Follow prescribed procedures when transmitting and receiving these signals.

Signal
Signal direction Message signal and its meaning
name

Rack Rack ON: Rack receiver side powered On

OPTION receiver → feeder The rack receiver side must always indicate this
side side signal is On whenever its power is on.

Rack Rack OFF: Error occurred during rack receiving

ERR receiver → feeder When this signal is Off, the rack feeder aborts
side side feeding the rack and notifies of the error.

Rack Rack ON: Ready to receive rack

READY receiver → feeder When this signal is On, the rack feeder can start
side side feeding the rack.
ON: Rack feeding started, and feeding in
Rack Rack progress
MOVE receiver ← feeder
side side When this signal is On, the rack receiver goes on to
receive the rack.

8.2.5. Timing of signal monitoring and recognition of External Unit state

 Immediately before the XN-9000/9100 feeds out the rack (i.e. when the rack arrives at the Discharge Line),

it monitors the OPTION, ERR, and READY signals. When the XN-9000/9100 finds the condition “8” is met

(see the table below), it starts feeding out the rack while monitoring the signals until the rack is completely

fed out.

 The XN-9000/9100 does not perform this signal monitoring during its initialization.
