SmartSDK Custom Authentication - Device Configuration

SmartSDK SOP panel applications require a different setup process for configuring the
device for custom authentication. The process below outlines the sequence of how to
set this type of configuration.

Note: This procedure involves the usage of SP settings. SP settings are intended
for Ricoh authorized technicians. If you decide to follow this procedure, only set
the SP modes as outlined by the document. You will assume all responsibilities
associated with any device malfunction due to improper SP usage.

1. Enter access code to edit SP settings


1.1. Launch a “classic” application [Printer (Classic)]
1.2. Enter access code for SP settings/editing
1.2.1. Reset, 8, 0, 6, 1, 8, 2, C (hold C for a few seconds)
1.2.2. Click System Sp button
1.2.3. Proceed to SP mode SP-5-401-230
1.2.4. Press “0” to set the least significant bit to “1”
1.2.5. Press “#” to save the changes
1.2.6. Exit SP mode settings

1.2.7. REBOOT device for changes to be enabled.

1.3. Set Administrator Authentication
1.3.1. On the SOP panel, press User Tools icon. The Machine Administrator
dialog opens.

1.3.2. Select Machine Features
1.3.3. Select System Settings
1.3.4. Press Administrator Tools tab, press next twisty to see pertinent page.
1.3.5. Select Administrator Authentication Management

1.3.6. Set Admin. Authentication to “On”

1.4. Enable User Authentication
1.4.1. Go back to Administrator Tools tab
1.4.2. Select User Authentication Management

1.4.3. Select Custom Auth Tab
1.4.4. Under LDAP Servers, enable LDAP Authentication. Select anything but
‘Off”. Usually, just select LDAP server 1 enabled.
1.4.5. Click “OK” button to save changes
1.4.6. Exit all the way and login as administrator

1.5. Enable Zero Stop
1.5.1. Under the Administrator Tools tab
1.5.2. Select Machine Action When Limit is Reached

1.5.3. Select Stop Job or Finish Job and Limit as per your requirements
1.5.4. Click “OK” button to save changes.
1.5.5. At this stage Print Volume Use Limitation: Unit Count Setting shows up.

1.6. Set Controller Features
1.6.1. Go back to administrator tools tab
1.6.2. Select User Authentication Management. (page down to 2nd window)
1.6.3. Select Custom Authentication tab, page down to find Copier Function
Settings
1.6.4. Ensure Copier Function is set to “None”
1.6.5. Still under Custom Authentication tab, page down to find Fax and Scanner
options. Ensure both are deselected.
1.6.6. Click “OK” button to save changes.

 Reboot SOP panel (no need to reboot the device, just the SOP
panel)

1.7. Enable Tracking (if needed)


1.7.1. Set SP mode SP-5-401-103 to 3 (Refer to Step 1 at beginning of
document; section 1.1 to 1.2.2 then change settings accordingly for this SP
setting)
1.7.2. Go back to system settings – Administrator Tools
1.7.3. Select Enhanced Print Volume Use Limitation
1.7.4. Set Tracking Permissions = On (This generate tracking events)
1.7.5. Set Stop Printing = On (This allows the tracking application to stop jobs)
