These are the different kinds of Primary Sources, including letters, diaries,
interviews, sound & video recordings, newspapers,artworks, scrapbooks and
more.
2. What are the Three Types of Written Sources?
The three type of written sources are primary, secondary and tertiary. Let’s
discuss first, what is primary sources. These are documents, photographs, or
artifacts that give personal witness or direct proof about a historical issue are
referred to as Primary Sources or in simple words these are original works.
While, Secondary Sources are modern documents, books, or articles that
study, assess, and synthesize material or analyses of those original works from
primary sources. Someone who did not observe or participate in the events or
conditions under examination gathered secondary materials. Lastly, Tertiary
Sources often known as reference or background resources, contain wide
knowledge to assist you in deciding on an issue. Encyclopedias, bibliographies,
indexes, textbooks, book reviews, and other reference books are examples of
tertiary sources.
