This study aimed to determine the termiticidal effect of Capsicum frutescens fruit extract

and Allium sativum bulb extract on drywood termites (Coptotermes gestroi).

One hundred and fifty grams of Capsicum frutescens fruit and Allium sativum bulb were
used in the study. It was extracted using the chopping and blending method and introduced in
four treatments: T1- 25%, T2-50%, T3-75%, and T4-100%, in three replications. The mortality
rate and time it takes to kill were observed, measured, recorded, and tabulated to determine the
termiticidal effect. Average was used to determine the termiticidal effects of different
concentration between C. frutescens fruit extract, A. sativum bulb extract, and combined C.
frutescens fruit extract and A. sativum bulb extract in Drywood Termite (Coptotermes gestroi) in
terms of mortality and time it takes to kill. Meanwhile, ANOVA was used to determine the
significant difference in the termiticidal effects among the experimental groups in Drywood
Termite (Coptotermes gestroi) in terms of mortality rate and time it takes to kill.

Results revealed that there was no significant difference in the termiticidal effect of
different concentrations of A. sativum bulb extract in terms of mortality rate. However, there was
a significant difference in the termiticidal effect of different concentrations of C. frutescens fruit
extract and combined extracts in terms of mortality rate. Meanwhile, there was no significant
difference in the termiticidal effects among the experimental groups in terms of time it took to
kill in seconds.

In conclusion, Capsicum frutescens fruit extract and Allium sativum bulb extract were
found to be cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative termiticides that could be used to control
drywood termites.
