ABSTRACT

The development of energy storage system technology, especially electric

vehicle battery technology. The battery used in electric vehicles is a rechargeable
battery. During the battery charging process, the temperature of the battery will
increase. This requires that there is a good cooling mechanism in the battery so
that it can dissipate excessive heat with the aim of increasing its service life,
preventing performance degradation and safety.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of fluid on battery
pack cooling using a mixture of TiO₂ nanoparticles and distilled water on battery
temperature by creating a battery pack replacement simulator using a heater.
In this study, the battery pack simulator uses the battery pack reference for
the Nissan Leaf Hybrid Car 2018. The simulator consists of 24 heaters formed
according to the number and size of the original battery pack battery modules and
a series of cooling systems in the form of radiators, pumps, flow meters,
thermocouples, and water blocks. .
The study method used in this study is the experimental method. The data
taken in this study is in the form of changes in battery temperature. Data collection
is carried out by turning on the heater, when the working temperature reaches steady
state with the heater still on. Then the cooling system was turned on with a variation
of discharge of 2.5 Lpm, 3 Lpm and 3.5 Lpm, 4 Lpm and 4.5 Lpm using nanofluids
with nanoparticle concentrations of 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.3%. . Data will be taken for
every variation of discharge when the working temperature is steady. The data
obtained is then processed by turning it into a graph and analyzed.

1.2 Statement of The Problem
Based on the background, the authors make the statement of the problem,
namely:
1. How does the variation of TiO₂ nanofluid affect battery pack cooling to
changes in battery temperature?
2. How does the TiO₂ nanofluid flow rate affect battery pack cooling on
changes in battery temperature?
1.4 Banefit of The Study
Based on the statement of the problem, this student arranges the objectives as
follows:
1. To determine the effect of TiO₂ nanofluid variations on battery pack cooling
on battery temperature.
2. For the effect of TiO₂ nanofluid variations on battery pack cooling on
battery temperature change time.
