What is the oscillating universe theory?

The oscillating universe theory was proposed by an american

physicist and chemist, Richard Tolman. The theory also known as the pulsating theory, explains that our
universe is a cylical universe. The cycle starts with the Big bang forming newborn stars, planet, galaxies
making the universe. In this theory the universe is continously expanding but it will soon reach its limit
and eventually reverses and collapses back, also called the big crunch. The big crunch will cause the
universe to reverse back and reach singularity birthing a new universe, this is called the big bounce and
the cycle continues. There is not much evidence supporting the oscillating universe theory especially
recently, infact there are more drawbacks.

Some of the drawbacks of this theory is that the universe collapsing on itself after its limit, violates some
recent laws of physics. And that the currently hypothesized end of the universe is by the Big Freeze or
Heat death, where the universe will be too cold to sustain life as the universe cools as it expands.
