Sinclairs Q1 PAT Up 32% to Rs.500.12 lakh 
 
Company’s Q1 EBIDTA at Rs.881.98 lakh 
 
 
 
Kolkata, August 13, 2019:  For the quarter ended 30th June, 2019, Sinclairs Hotels 
Ltd  posted  a  Total  Income  of  Rs.1664.21  lakh  as  against  Rs.1570.38  lakh  for  the 
same period in the previous year.  The EBIDTA for the quarter increased by 18% 
and stood at Rs.881.98 lakh (Rs.746.56 lakh) while the Profit After Tax increased 
by 32% to Rs. 500.12 lakh (Rs.378.51 lakh). 
 
The  Company  has  strong  fundamentals  and  is  debt  free.    Its  Other  Equity 
(excluding Revaluation  Reserve) stood at Rs.9159.04 lakh as at 31st  March 2019, 
on a paid‐up equity share capital of Rs.557 lakh (Rs.557 lakh). 
 
The  Company  owns  and  operates  seven  properties  at  Burdwan,  Darjeeling, 
Dooars, Kalimpong, Ooty, Port Blair and Siliguri.  All its properties enjoy high guest 
ratings on TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel information platform.  In spite of 
the  general  slowdown  in  the  economy  and  tourist  traffic,  the  Company  has 
maintained  steady  growth  on  account  of  its  strong  focus  on  both  the  leisure  as 
well as the business travel segments.

 Sinclairs Darjeeling
An internationally famous hill station, it is a
favourite destination for travellers from UK,
Europe, Japan and China.
Major attractions are Darjeeling Himalayan
Railway (UNESCO Heritage site), the famous
teas, well known Monasteries and proximity
to Kanchenjunga mountains – a part of
the Eastern Himalaya range.
Darjeeling continues to be one of the
favourite hill destinations for tourists in
India and abroad. With peace returning to
the hills, the influx of tourists in the region
will increase.
We have signed up with inbound tour
operators and have contracted more than
30 foreign groups from USA, Japan,
Australia, Germany, France, UK, etc.
As per a recent circular of Department of
Public Enterprises, Government of India,
a directive has been issued to all PSUs to
hold at least two meetings every year in
select tourist destinations. Darjeeling is listed
as one such destination. As such there will be
more corporate conferences and meetings in
Darjeeling.

Spread over 20 acres of unbelievably green
landscape, Sinclairs Retreat Dooars is a
haven for tourists visiting the Dooars region
as well as those transiting for onward journey
to Bhutan.
Dooars has the second largest deposit of
deciduous forests in the world and draws
large number of travellers from across the
globe.
Sinclairs has the credit of putting Chalsa in
the international tourist map. We have tied up
with leading inbound tour operators, and
there is a long term arrangement for hosting
groups from France, Japan, UK, South
Korea, Taiwan, etc.. Tourists from over 40
countries have visited the resort.
A large 6000 sq ft banquet together with open
area of 25,000 sq.ft. has been commissioned
during the year.
There is a huge demand for weddings in
Chalsa and, we are targeting to host at least
12 to 15 weddings every year. In addition

substantially add to the top line as well as

This is the most important city in North Bengal
and second most important city in West
Bengal. Its location is very strategic as it is
close to borders of China, Bangladesh, Nepal
and Bhutan.

 Future Plans
Sinclairs plans to expand its chain by acquiring properties on outright purchase/
lease.

Leased properties will result in expanding footprint quickly while new acquisitions
will reduce tax liability.

The present cash surplus of Rs 56 crore together with cash generated every year
will ensure that the company has adequate cash flow for acquisitions without any
borrowings.

The strategy will be to acquire or take on lease properties located around the present
ones to take advantage of the cluster approach.
