Introduction/Background
 Nigeria’s 2020 Voluntary National Report (VNR) on Sustainable Development Goals focused on the key
issues of poverty (1) and an inclusive economy (8), health and well being (3), education (4), gender
equality (5), enabling environment of peace and security (16) and of course partnership (17).
 The focus was based on Nigeria’s development realities and the objectives of the Muhammad Buhari
Administration. (ERGP).
 The impact of Covid 19 pandemic on Socio-Economy of all Nations, which also slowed the
advancement of the attainment of the Global Goals.
 “Leave no Nigerian behind”
All hands must be on deck to achieve the
development goals and equally make them
sustainable.

leaders
 Community Mobilization: Traditional and Religious Leaders are active agents
for community mobilization
 Awareness Creation: They equally serve as a veritable channel for ensuring
buy-in of all and sundry.
 Leave no one behind: They know every member of the community and can
easily trace the widows, PWDs, the needy, the poorest of the poor and those
who desired intervention.
 They serve as a link between the local populace and the state actors (policy)
 They equally serve as linkages between the beliefs, values and metaphysical
aspirations of the people.
