1. INTRODUCTION
This method statement forms part of OB JAG Group’s safe system of work. It explains how the site
logistics and the work activities shall be safely managed throughout the life cycle of the project. The
safe system of working will include control measures for the risks and hazards identified in the risk
assessment. The objectives of our method statement are to ensure that;
Staff and employees work in a safe working environment, and their health and safety are
protected.
Protect the safety of the general public and third party.
Maintain a highly organized and tidy site which responds to the different phases of the project.
Ensure that deliveries and traffic are well planned and managed to prevent or minimize
anydisruption.
Protect the environment and be considerate to our neighborhood.
The statement therefore gives an indication of our general approach to the construction and management of
the project. We would ensure that risk assessment is carried out for each work activity to identify and
effectively manage the risk and hazards in order for the work to be carried out in safe manner.
Prior to the commencement of the project works, a detailed Health, Safety and Environmental Management
Plan will be prepared based on the risk assessment of the work activities. The plan will be reviewed
periodically and updated throughout the life cycle of the project.
This Method Statement covers the general procedure for the Slope Protection and Brick
walling. The procedures outlined here cover, but are not limited to the, following:
Mobilization
Site Preparations.

2. PRE-START SITE SURVEY
Prior to commencement of site works, an extensive survey of the site shall be carried out by a competent
person to properly assess the condition of the site and any specific risk or hazard identified. These will
be plotted on a drawing and a photographic record will be taken, which will be maintained as a record
throughout the stages of the contract.
Notification of the project commencement will be issued to all relevant parties, advising them of the
construction works and advising them of OB JAG Group’s proposed programme of works.
3. RISK ASSESSMENT
Our risk management is underpinned by risk assessment and method statement. Risk management
process requires consideration of issues such as occupational health, safety and environmental matters.
We aim to eliminate hazards, or reduce the risk if possible. Where hazards cannot be eliminated, identify
and implement appropriate measures to reduce and control the risk.
Risk Identification
This is the identification of the task to be carried out and the hazards associated with the tasks. The
individual or group of people who would be at risk of the hazards are also identified.
Risk Evaluation
All risks identified are evaluated. Their likelihood of occurrence and the impact are assessed.
Mitigation
Our risk mitigation strategy is outlined below.
❖ Use of collective protection mechanism.
❖ Provision of protective equipment.
❖ Combat risk at the source.
❖ Provide appropriate supervision and training.
❖ Provision of effective monitoring.
❖ Adapt the method of working to suit the individual.
4. SITE SET UP
The Contractor shall provide site accommodation and welfare facilities for the staff and the workforce
as well as visiting consultants. Storage facilities shall be provided on site for storage of materials and
tools. These will be tied into the already existing facilities for the client due to the restrictive nature
of the site
Trained and competent persons shall be employed to carry out the works. All operatives shall be inducted
and trained on safety issues on site. All operatives will be provided with appropriate personal protective
equipment to prevent injury. The specific hazards/risks and mitigation strategy for carrying out the
maintenance of the project are provided in the risk assessment attached to this document. We would also
ensure that adequate management and supervision is provided to monitor and manage safety on site to
ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
5. SITE SECURITY
The nature of the works dictates that there must be a coordinated strategy between OB Jag
Group and the client. Our site management will carry out the following;
OB JAG intends to allow client continue to control the access and egress to site.
6. LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT
The way in which the site is established and managed is critical to the success of the project. Our site
logistic management plan will entail the following.
Material Deliveries
Materials will be delivered on a just in time basis, unless the item is a high value or on a long lead in
fixed delivery date to avoid congestion of the site and for material storage facility on site. All materials
will be handled by our project manager in conjunction with supervisors to ensure timely offloading and
storage in a designated area to maintain the high housekeeping standard we expect.
Deliveries will be scheduled to reduce the impact of traffic to the local area and the impact on adjoining
neighbours. Deliveries will be restricted to agreed times with the client’s management team to minimize
impact of the construction activities on the operation of the existing facilities.
6
SRMS FENCING AND SLOPE PROTECTION WORKS
Fire escape routes shall be established and tied into the existing client’s arrangements and fire assembly
point. This will be augmented by regular education and displaying the Fire and Emergency Plan at prominent
locations on site. The fire and emergency procedures will be included and communicated to the
operatives at the site induction
The following precautions shall be introduced to manage fire and emergencies on site.
Inspect the work area daily especially at the end of each shift
No smoking allowed on site or in the site accommodation and welfare.
Prohibit the storage of LPG, Oxygen and Acetylene on site
Control the storage of other flammable materials
8. PROTECTION STRATEGY
We understand the critical importance of providing protection to the existing buildings and facilities
and would ensure that all such facilities are protected. We have gained great understanding and
knowledge from previous projects in tackling these issues and would ensure that all existing services
lines are diverted or protected as required in order not to disrupt operations of the existing buildings.
Existing service drawings will be obtained from the client prior to commencement of work.
9. ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
OB JAG Group is committed to sustainable construction by using sustainable materials and construction
methods. Our environmental management plan includes; housekeeping, waste management, noise, dust
and debris control.
Housekeeping
