Exercise No.1
Farm Tour
INTRODUCTION
Farm animals are animals raised or kept primarily for consumption, to generate
income and to help with some farm operations. The difference between farm animals and
wild animals is that farm animals live among men while wild animals live in the wild, forest,
jungle, etc. Domesticated animals raised in agricultural settings are known as livestock.
These animals generate a variety of food items such meat, eggs, milk, fur, leather, and wool
in addition to providing labour. In other instances, the phrase is only used to describe farmed
ruminants like cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs, or just to describe animals kept for human
consumption.
Farm tour is important to us who’s new to a farm, it helps us familiarize the different
kind of animal species, their production, behaviour and characteristics and the different types
of facilities of animals in department of animal science have.
OBJECTIVES
1. Identify various animal species raised at the Department of Animal Science and discuss the
purpose they may serve, and;
2. Discuss basic farm settings.
METHODOLOGY
Since the laboratory activity was given at the first meeting, the laboratory in-charge
oriented the students about the class policies and grading of the laboratory course. The
instructor provided the student with some insights in animal production/husbandry.After the
classroom discussion, the students was toured to the Poultry project, Swine project, Goat and
Sheep project and Beef cattle project of the Department of Animal Science.

help you become experts in the field of animal production?
Farm tour thought us the different facilities and equipment in every animal project
have. It also give us some information about every animal species. The information that I’ve
acquired, will thought me how to be expert or how to handle the animal production.
