Timeline / How it Works

● Spawn: Our player is expected to spawn in a forest directly outside of the house they
are supposed to enter. There will be an invisible barrier around the forest to prevent
the player from running outside of bounds.

● Entering the house: Upon entering the house, they are going to see many bright
lights covering everything, as well as a series of doors they must enter if they plan on
beating the game.

● The Rooms: The doors connect to rooms that will reflect fears. For example, one
room will be filled with spiders for the fear of spiders, and another may be just a
dark room for the fear of dark rooms. And for the dark rooms, you will need to use a
flashlight which will be hidden in one of the other rooms for you to find. The rooms
are there for the sole purpose of you finding objects that will help you escape. There
isn’t necessarily a way to “beat” a room, but upon entering and exiting one, the room
will be automatically marked as “searched” or “completed.” You may find a key that
won’t work for a certain door, meaning you’d have to search for the correct locked
door.

● Protein Bar: You may find a protein bar that you can use whenever your sprint
energy is low.

● The Monster: In the house, there is one creature the player is trying to avoid, and
the only way they can avoid it is by finding a room to hide in. While in an encounter
with the monster, the player will use the sprint mechanic to make them go faster. But
the sprint button has a limit as well as a countdown after use so the player isn't able
to sprint around the house freely at any time. To have “survived”the encounter with
the monster, the player can only either sprint out of sight or hide in one of the
closets or rooms around the map until the monster moves to a different area.
And as you near the basement, monster activity will increase because of the
basement area being its top hunting grounds.

● About the keys: Keys will pop up in random rooms that will give you the option to
pick them up. But because there are only two inventory slots given to the player, they
may have to store keys in one spot on the map, leave the keys they find if their slots
are full, or swap the keys.
● Key for the basement: We expect that the player will have a flashlight (only needed
in dark rooms) and an empty inventory slot that will be used for the key once they
find it in the multitude of rooms. Once the key is retrieved, the player will have to
search around the house to find the basement. While in the basement, there is
another key they will have to find that will lead to the exit and the player will have
won the game.
