A clause is a set of meaningful words, conditional sentences are formed by two clauses, conditional and main.

CONDITIONAL, MAIN → If you go outside, you will get wet.

We can invert the conditional form. Doing so, the comma will be removed.

You will get wet if you go outside.

Subject does not need an auxiliary verb, because de wh-clause acts as a pronoun

Object questions need the auxiliary verb because it acts as the pronoun (the thing you are asking about is answered by
the auxiliary). Who did you invite to the party?

More formal questions are made in a indirect form

Can you tell me where MacDougal Street is?

If the direct question has a Wh- clause, then its indirect form will switch the subject and auxiliary verb.

If the direct question can be answered with yes or no, it’s indirect form will have if.
