Report on R&D Block in KL University

The Research and development block is located south-east of KL
University, it is a west facing building. The building is awarded as a
green building by GRIHA (Green Building Rating for Integrated Habitat
Assessment) with 5-star rating in 2019.
The R&D block is G+6 building provides classwork accommodation for
nearly 6000-7000 and it is accommodated with one conference hall and
a theatre. Each floor in the building is nearly 4m height. There are 4
staircases 2 are located at south-east and other 2 are located on
southwest corner and 6 lifts.
The building is almost 80-85 % of area is kept open by glass so that the
ventilation is very good and solar panel are provided so that the building
uses natural resources and reduces electricity consumption overall in
building.
The are using centralized conditioning in classrooms and air passage
into building is good and amount of cfc into building is very less. 14’
wide corridors, the classrooms are equipped with large sized windows
and provided with safety from being opened by students.
We can observe water pipelines attached with ceilings inside R & D
block for cooling purposes. open to sky for lighting purpose. The ground
floor had 50 percent glass fittings for good ventilation purpose. 5 cm &
10 cm diameter pipelines were there for circulating water in pipes to
maintain cool. Each floor had 6 to 8 fire fighters. Wood fittings and
granite were used. Solar panels were used for electric purposes. It has
drip irrigation for greenery purposes to save the water.
Overall R&D Building was as energy efficient, water efficient, Conserve
natural resources, with Improved indoor air quality.
