THYROID ULTRASOUND SCAN.

Clinical information: neck pain

Procedure: High resolution ultrasound of the thyroid with a linear transducer.

Findings:
Shows an enlarged, hypoechoic, micronodular gland with lobulated contours.
The right lobe measures 2.88cm (L) x 1.21cm (AP) x 1.32cm (W)
The left lobe measures 2.95cm (L) x 1.39cm (AP) x 1.32cm (W)
The isthmus is normal in thickness.
No retro-sternal or retro-tracheal extension of the gland is seen.
All neck stations are free of pathological nodes.

INTERPRETATION:

Auto immune thyroid disease DDX. Hashimoto thyroiditis
