RAMAD
HAN
Ramadhan a month of fasting before Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which falls on 2 May 2022.It’s the
month when our Muslim friends not only refrain from food and water from dawn to dusk, but
also tobacco products, intimate relations, and sinful behaviour. As the spiritual rewards of
fasting are believed to be multiplied during Ramadan, Muslims also devote themselves to
special prayers and recitation of the Quran. The month-long weekend Ramadan bazaar will
be showcasing a combination of permanent and. pop-up food stalls and retail booths set up
specially for your Raya food and shopping needs.

This Ramadan market took place on May 1st, 2022 at Pekan Parit Yusuf, Muar. A total of 66
stalls were set up, and we were handed 3 of them to choose from. Stall 1 is ‘AYAM
GORENG MAHARANI MUAR’, stall 2 is ‘ONE MELAWATI KEBAB’, and stall 3 is
‘AZMERA MINI MURTABAK’.

a) Food handlers wear short-sleeved T-shirts
b) Gloves are not used by food workers.
c) Food exists in two states: exposed and uncovered.
d) food left out here in the open on a stall's premises
3.
The offence committed by a food seller is that the food does not meet
with the requirements or specifications established by any rules made
under this Act, according to section 13 (b) (2) (e) of the Food Act 1983.
Then, according to regulation 32 (1) (a) and (b) of the food act 1983 food
hygiene regulations 2009, food handlers must wear clean, suitable, and
proper clothing that does not contribute to food contamination, as well as
a clean, suitable, and light coloured outer overall or a light coloured
apron, head cover, and footwear, or any other suitable clothing. However,
the food handlers in this stall disobeyed this rule. Furthermore, in
accordance with the law, the food handlers did not maintain a high level
of personal cleanliness, which includes keeping their nails short and
clean, as required by section 33 (1) (a) and (f) of the food act 1983, food
hygiene regulations 2009. In addition, the food workers in this stall shall
not wear any form of protective clothing. Jewellery, watches, pins, and
other accessories are examples. Last but not least, Regulation 37 (1) (a) &
(b) & (c) & (d) & (e) &(a) of the Food Act 1983, Food Hygiene
Regulations 2009, a food handler is prohibited from storing, exposing, or
transporting food or sell any food fit for human consumption in any food
establishment without the cabinet, display case, container, cover or other
protective equipment.
4.
According to Section 13b (2) (e) of the Food Act 1983, anyone who
prepares or sells food that does not comply with the standards or
specifications prescribed by any regulation under the Food Act 1983 is
guilty of an offence and, upon conviction, is liable to a fine not exceeding
RM20,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years, or both, as
specified in section 13 (b) bracket 4. Any food handler who fails to
comply with sub regulation (1) or (2) of regulation 32 (1) (a) & (b) of the
food act 1983 food hygiene regulations 2009 commits an offence and is
liable to a fine not exceeding RM 1,000.00 if convicted. Furthermore, any
food handler who fails to comply with sub regulation (1), (2), (3), (4), or
(5) of the food act 1983, food hygiene rules 2009 commits an offence and
is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding RM 10,000.00 or to
imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years. Furthermore, under
regulation 36 (1) (d) & (m) of the Food Act 1983, food hygiene
regulations 2009, any food handler who fails to comply with sub
regulation (1), (2), or (3) commits an offence and is liable on conviction
to a fine of not more than RM 10,000.00 or to imprisonment for not more
than two years. Finally, under regulation 37 (1) (a) & (b) of the Food Act
1983, Food Hygiene Regulations 2009, any food handler who fails to
comply with sub regulation (1) commits an offence and is subject to a
fine not exceeding RM10,000.00 or to imprisonment for a term not
exceeding two years upon conviction.

5. First and foremost, in our group's opinion, food handlers at food stalls should
wear adequate and clean gloves and aprons to avoid the possibility of foreign
substances getting into the food.
Aside from that, food handlers must keep the table in good condition and clean
it well before and after using it to mix and prepare meals to avoid food
contamination.
Last but not least, food handlers can place food inside container and seal it to
prevent food contamination or flies from entering. Furthermore, we can place
the 'Murtabak' inside a tiny food display exhibit to keep it from being exposed
to air.
