Quantifiers are words that come before nouns in order to indicate the amount or how much of a non-
count noun is being stated, or the number or how many of a count noun is being stated. Remember
that amount and how much refer to uncountable nouns while number and how many refer
to countable nouns. Let's look at a few examples.
1. Uncountable nouns
There are some quantifiers which are used only with uncountable nouns. Here are a few examples: a
little, not much, little, or too much.
E.x: "The students have a tremendous amount of work to complete before the end of the year."
"His fuel gauge was not working, so he didn't know how much gas was left."
2. Countable nouns
There are some quantifiers which are used only with countable nouns. Here are a few
examples: few, many, too many, several, or a couple of.
E.x:"Many people in the club exceeded the maximum occupancy."
"I don't remember how many times I have been to New York."
P.S: There are some quantifiers which are used with both uncountable and countable nouns. Here are
a few examples: a lot of, plenty of, some (+) and any (- and ?) or enough.
