MODULE1 (LISTENING)

Subject matter: Listening UP

Materials: Music, Storybook, Recordings

Objectives:

- to practice the behaviors of effective, active listeners.

- to listen effectively in a variety of materials

I. Introduction

Listening is the most basic and central talent of the four, the ideal for developing
listening skills is to encourage students to listen a lot. But it isn't easy to do in the everyday
English classrooms. Nevertheless, teachers should take simple steps to build hearing-rich
classrooms or school environments which require very little time away from instruction. The aim
is to surround students, to the best of the capacity of an instructor, with listening resources that
will gravitate to and inspire the students to listen actively and efficiently. This lesson plan
includes ten easy and realistic listening exercises and some useful tips are included below as
well.

A. Preliminary
1. Opening Prayer
2. Classroom Management
3. Lesson Proper
II. Presentation/ Discussion
- Listening Skills is one of the important part in the Marco skills because without
listening you can’t talk or express the things that you heard on something.

- Provide students with a small sheet of writing paper. Then let them know that the
activity you are about to do will prove how well they listen and follow directions. Let
them know that you will state each instruction, then pause, then repeat the
instruction. Add, But I will not repeat any instruction a third time, so you must listen
very carefully. Proceed to give students the instructions below.

1. Write your name first name on the last line of the paper at the left-hand margin.
2. On the first line on the paper write the numbers 1 through 9. Start at the left and print
the numbers. Leave a space between each number.
3. Circle the number 6.
4. Draw a star in the upper left-hand corner of the page.
5. Fold your paper in half the long way.
6. Open up your paper, then fold it the opposite way.
7. Use the tip of your pencil to poke a hole in the center of the paper (the place where the
two folds meet).
8. Draw a heart around the hole you made in your paper.
9. Write the first initial of your last name in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
10. On the last line on the page, write the word done near the right margin.

This is not a difficult task, but it does require listening. You might be surprise at how many
students fail.

III. Evaluation

The development of listening ability is a long-term process. What teachers need to do is

keep on doing a little change and squeeze listening activity into the English classroom. In
this way, not only do students’ listening abilities become better but also students have more
fun in learning English.

IV. Assignment

The pupils will listen to a nursery rhyme in their home and practice it and on the next meeting
we will going to play the song and we will see among them listens it.
