Define out of school youth

Out-of-school children who are not attending school while out-of-school


youth refers to persons aged 15 to 24 years who are not attending school, are not
working.

2. Give 5 reasons why youths/children tend to work or stay at home instead of


going to school
- Poverty
- Lack of Assistance
- No money
- They tend not to go also
- Early Pregnancy
3. Give 5 ways to educate the out of school youth
- Give free tutoring around out barangays every Saturday
- Have a monthly seminar about health and safety protocols
- Give them writing materials and books for them to read
- Bond with them and educate them
- Be a role model to them
4. Give 2 programs that the government has created for the out of school youth.

- Basic Literacy Program (BLP) The Basic Literacy Program (BLP) is a


program aimed at eradicating illiteracy among out-of-schools youth and adults
(in extreme cases school-aged children) by developing basic literacy skills of
reading, writing and numeracy.
- ‘Abot-Alam’ for out-of-school youth aims to o protect and promote the right of
every Filipino to quality, equitable, culture-based and complete basic
education.” One of the DepEd’s major vehicles in carrying out this mission is
the K-to-12 program.

5. What is learning disability?

A learning disability is a reduced intellectual ability and difficulty with everyday


activities bor example household tasks, socialising or managing money which
affects someone for their whole life.

6. How we address students with disability?

Students of all skills and cultures deserve schools that are welcoming and
convey respect. Especially certain students with disabilities, the classroom
environment can present some difficulties that require adaptation and
consideration.

7. Give 2 types of learning disabilities


- Oral / Written Language Disorder and Specific Reading Comprehension
Deficit is a Learning disabilities that affect an individual’s understanding of
what they read or of spoken language. The ability to express one’s self with
oral language may also be impacted.
- ADHD is a disorder that includes difficulty staying focused and paying
attention, controlling behavior and hyperactivity.

8. Give 2 strategies of teaching students with learning disabilities
I’ve learned this one to my mom because she is a tutor and she has a student
disorder and these strategies it can help to build relationship with you and the
tutee first is be patient, because if you don’t have patience you cant handle a
student with learning disability and lastly is your voice must be soft and
approachable because there are some student that is sensitive that is why they
tend to wear headphones to reduce the sounds they hear and to prevent them
not to distract anyone.

9. Who are the children with special needs?


- Special-needs children include those who have: Mental Retardation, which
causes them to develop more slowly than other children. Speech and
Language Impairment, such as a problem expressing themselves or
understanding others. Physical Disability, such as vision problem, cerebral
palsy, or other conditions.

10. What are the programs created by the NGOs/Government in support of children
with learning disabilities and special needs?

Birthright Educators Foundation

A community based rehab organization administering centers and schools in


Muntinlupa, advocating inclusive education and rights for the disabled.
Blood Brothers Aid, Inc.

Blood Brothers Aid Inc. (BBA) is a non-profit organization in the Philippines dedicated in
improving the lives of children and young adults suffering from Hemophilia, a hereditary
genetic disorder that impairs the ability to control blood-clotting or coagulation leading to
uncontrolled bleeding or death. The organization is advocating hemophilia awareness,
promoting brotherhood, inspiring people of different cultural orientations to become
sponsors to help in supply school fees, foods, transportation to clinics, and medicine for
the hemophiliacs.

Our organization is a non- stock, non profit organization of PWD's. We celebrated last
Tuesday our 2nd year anniversary celebration. We tried to give wheelchairs to our
members by contacting the local government in the area or even other NGO's who had
access in the material devices. We also send some children in PGH or PCMC, etc...

-Giving assistive devices such as; wheelchairs, crutches, hearing head, sroller, etc.
through the help of local government agencies, ngo's, foundations and foreign funding.-
Helping PWD's children in assisting them in the Hospital such as; PGH, PCMC, POC,
East Avenue, etc..-Facilitate the Livelihood Seminars/Training through different ngo's or
faoundation.-Advocacy, for the Laws to be implemented by the local government even
to the national government.-

achieve their social, economic and cultural needs and aspirations by making equitable
contributions to the capital required, patronizing their products and services and
accepting a fair share of the risks and benefits of the undertaking in accordance with
universally accepted cooperative principles.
