DETAILS

After reading a case study revolving around some ethical or cultural issue,
you will be required to use the problem-solving techniques learnt in order
to explore varying perspectives, and to discuss a range of options that
reflect the interests of all stakeholders. You should use the TEEL essay
structure (see examples and explanation in Collaborate). Give readers an
Introduction, and provide any necessary background information.

Cultural Dilemma & Ethical Dilemma readings are provided on VUC.


The case study will be allocated to you and will be made
available in the Assessment 4 Drop Box Case Study Topic
Folder on the day of your assessment 4.
Please Note:
• The time and date and arrangements for your preparation and
planning will be confirmed.
• Please pay attention to the Assessment schedule on VUC in the
learning space for the confirmed date and time for assessment
4.
• The time, date and venue for the supervised part of the
assessment will be also confirmed locally.

INSTRUCTIONS

To get started on your assessment task, please follow the instructions


below; In the morning Research and Planning Session on the date of the
assessment 4 you will be able to download your Dilemma’ case study
from Assessment 4 Drop Box Case Study Topic Folder

1. You must:

• Read and analyse the ‘Dilemma’ brief text


• Create an appendix of Problem Solving Techniques (as
set out below), and
• Research your topic to find useful and appropriate
reference sources.

2. Prepare your essay plan, but do not commence writing your essay
until the supervised time, as you will receive further instructions.
3. Then (the supervised essay writing session): Read your further
instructions and also use your plan to Write an Essay of up to 700
words using the TEEL essay structure (120 mins). Apply the readings
and reference sources which you have found to support your essay.
4. You will be required to demonstrate correct APA referencing
including examples of in-text citations, direct quotations,
paraphrasing and a reference list.
5. You should proofread and edit your essay carefully and make sure
that you have followed the instructions carefully.
6. When submitted into the Dropbox, your Essay will be checked for
plagiarism (Urkund Originality Check). You will have access to the
originality report, and if necessary, could rewrite and resubmit your
essay to achieve a lower "Similarity" percentage. But you will need
to manage your time to submit by the end of the supervised session.
Your target for this should always be "lower than 20% similarity".
7. Upload your Essay, Plan and your Student Declaration (which you
can prepare in advance) to the Assessment 4 Dropbox
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

The following levels of criteria will be used to grade this assessment


task:

• Criterion 1: Problem solving techniques


• Criterion 2: Understanding of cultural/ethical dilemma

• Criterion 3: Basic analytical skills (developing a

rationale/justifications)
• Criterion 4: Essay writing skills using the TEEL structure (including

use of APA referencing system)

Please submit your completed assessment electronically via


the assessment dropbox for this assessment. Do not forget to upload a
signed student declaration and include this with your submission and a
copy of your plan.
