Science Articles: The Science of Glass

The science of glass is very complicated and detailed. There are many different types or

glass, and they all serve different purposes. It definitely isn’t easy to make glass, but it was

interesting to find out how it’s done.

Unknown Terms and definitions:

1. Viscosity – the state of being thick, sticky, and semifluid in consistency, due to

internal friction.

2. Ductility - mechanical property commonly described as a material’s amenability.

3. Annealing – heat metal or glass and allow it to cool slowly, in order to remove

internal stress and toughen it.

Known Terms and definitions:

1. Raw Materials – the basic material from which a product is made.

2. Laminating – overlay with a layer of plastic or some other protective material.
