During his high school years, Jobs worked in summer holidays at Hewlett-Packard. It was in that company that he met his future business partner Steve Wozniak. When Jobs reached college age, he was enrolled in Reed College where he studied physics, literature, and poetry. He spent only one semester at Reed, and then dropped out, as he was more interested in eastern philosophy and fruitarian diets than in the classes he took. In 1974 Jobs returned to California and started working for Atari with his close friend Steve Wozniak. The future founders of Apple teamed together to design computer games. They both had learned enough to try their hand at building personal computers. Using Job's garage as a base of operation, they produced and sold fifty fully assembled computers. This encouraged them to set up Apple Corporation on April 1, 1979, The corporation was named after Job's favorite fruit. During the early 80's, Jobs controlled the business side of Apple Corporation and Wozniak, the design side. However, in 1984 a power struggle with the board of directors caused Jobs to leave Apple. After leaving Apple. Steve Jobs founded NeXT. It was a computer company that created the world’s first web browser. Ironically Apple bought NeXT in 1996, and that led Steve Jobs to return to Apple, but this time as a manager. In 1986, Jobs bought "The Graphics Group" from Lucas films for ten million dollars. The company was later renamed Pixar and it was good at making animated films in collaboration with Disney. In 2006, Disney bought Pixar from Jobs. Before his death, Steve Jobs was listed as the inventor and co-inventor on 342 United States patents, with technologies ranging from computer and portable devices, user interfaces, speakers, keyboards, power adapters, staircases, clasps, sleeves, lanyards and packages. His last patent was issued for the Mac OS X Dock user interface. October 5 2011 is the day that witnessed Job's death. Selected by: J.
