Review Questions
Lesson 1 – It’s a Battle
• It’s easy to sin: no one has to teach us to lie, cheat, steal, etc. But we have to
fight to do what? (good, right, etc.)
• In addition to fighting to do good, what else are we fighting for? (faith, eternal
life)
• We have a King who helps us fight. How does Psalm 24:8 describe our King? (He
is the King of glory, strong and mighty [powerful], mighty in battle [He will never be
checkmated!])
• Who is our adversary (enemy)? (the devil [not people!])
• Who came to destroy the works of the devil? (the Son of God: Jesus)
• Revelation 20:10 says one day the devil will be cast where, to be tormented day
and night forever? (the lake of fire [checkmate!])
• God gives us a set of what to protect us in our fight against the devil? (armor)
• Most pieces of the Armor of God are defensive (for protection), but we one
offensive (fighting) weapon. What is it? (the Sword of the Spirit, which is the
Word of God)

Lesson 2 – The Helmet of Salvation


• People wear helmets when playing sports, fighting fires, riding bikes, etc. Why is
it so important to protect your head? (your brain is the control center of your
entire body; if you hurt your head, your brain may be damaged and therefore your
body may not work correctly
• According to Philippians 4:8, what kinds of things are we supposed to be thinking
about? (whatever is true, honest, just [fair], pure, lovely, of good report; anything
that has virtue [excellence] or is worthy of praise)
• Why do we need the Helmet of Salvation? (to help us think good thoughts, to
protect our minds from bad thoughts and the devil’s lies; to keep from becoming
spiritually “brain damaged,” where we are unable to understand, believe, and obey the
Gospel)
• God gives us His Helmet of Salvation. What is salvation? (being saved [delivered]
from the power and punishment of sin)
• Acts 2:38 tells us how to put the Helmet of Salvation on. Quote or tell the steps
of salvation Peter mentions in this verse. (“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and
be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”)
• After we put the Helmet of Salvation on, we keep it on by praying as David did
in Psalm 139:23: “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my…”

Lesson 3 – The Breastplate of Righteousness
• What part of God’s armor protects your head? (the Helmet of Salvation)
• What part of God’s Armor protects your heart (chest)? (the Breastplate of
Righteousness)
• Isaiah says all our righteousnesses are like what? (filthy [dirty] rags)
• Can a dirty rag of a shirt protect you in battle? (no [it may protect your skin from
dirt or sunburn, but that’s about it])
• What is righteousness? (condition of being without guilt or sin)
• Can we ever do enough good things to be righteous? (no)
• We are not saved by our works of righteousness. What are we saved by? (by
God’s mercy, by the washing of regeneration [rebirth] and renewing of the Holy
Ghost)
• God allows us to put on His righteousness when we obey Acts 2:38 and do what
three things? (repent, get baptized in Jesus’ name, and receive the gift of the Holy
Ghost)

Lesson 4 – The Belt of Truth


• What part of God’s Armor holds things in place? (the Belt of Truth)
• When a person doesn’t tell the truth, what happens to his Belt of Truth? (it
comes apart)
• If a person’s Belt of Truth falls apart, what other piece of armor might she
lose? (her Sword of the Spirit)
• We need to have our Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, with us at
all times so we can fight whom? (the devil)
• What can be done to repair a Belt of Truth which has fallen apart? (the belt can
be repaired by telling the truth)
• If we lie and break our Belt of Truth, is it instantly fixed when we tell the
truth? (no; it takes awhile to repair things [and regain people’s trust])
• How much truth is in the devil? (none; he is the father of lies)
• Jesus is the opposite of lies. What is Jesus? (the truth)

Lesson 5 – The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace


• What would happen if you wore the wrong shoes for an occasion; for example,
flip-flops in the snow, boots to golf, high heels to bowl, etc.? (you could get
frostbite; you could get sore feet and blisters; you could fall and injure yourself; etc.
[besides ruining the shoes])
• What do shoes do for our feet? (protect them, help them perform better [keep
them from slipping], make them look good [fashion statement])
• Can a soldier stand firmly and fight well without shoes or boots? (no)
• Whom are we fighting against? (the devil, who does not want us to be saved)

• We should always be prepared to fight the devil by wearing the Shoes of the
Gospel of Peace. What is the Gospel? (the “good news” of Jesus’ life, death, burial,
and resurrection)
• Jesus died for our sins. We die to our sins when we what? (repent)
• Jesus was buried in a tomb. We are buried in water when we are what?
(baptized)
• In whose name are we baptized? (Jesus’ name)
• Jesus resurrected—rose from the grave. We are resurrected and receive new life
when we receive what? (the gift of the Holy Ghost)

Lesson 6 – The Shield of Faith


• What is a shield? (a protective device, usually held in the hand, meant to block
attacks)
• What does the Shield of Faith quench (block)? (the fiery darts of the wicked [the
devil])
• What does it mean to have faith in God? (to trust in Him and His promises; to
believe He will do what He says)
• According to Romans 12:3, how many people have been given a measure faith?
(each one)
• Our faith grows stronger when we what? (pray [in the Holy Ghost])
• A Roman centurion (commander) didn’t feel worthy to have Jesus come to his
house, but he asked Jesus to heal his servant by just saying the word. Jesus was
amazed and said he had not found anyone in Israel with such great what? (faith)
• We can make an even stronger barrier to the devil’s fiery darts of doubt by
joining our what together? (our Shields of Faith)

Lesson 7 – The Sword of the Spirit


• What is a sword used for? (fighting, battles, protection, etc.)
• How could you become an expert swordsman(woman)? (practice regularly)
• What is the Sword of the Spirit? (the Word of God)
• Jesus expertly used the Word of God to defeat who? (the devil)
• How can you become an expert at using your Bible? (learn where and how to find
things in your Bible; read your Bible; study your Bible; memorize Bible verses so you
will always have God’s Word—your sword—with you; listen when the Word is taught
and preached; don’t just listen—DO—what the Bible says; etc.)
• How should a soldier take care of and handle his sword? (handle it with care,
respecting its sharpness; keep it clean and sharpened; keep it nearby at all times; etc.)
• How should you take care of and handle your Bible? (handle it carefully; make sure
it’s kept clean—not lying around getting dusty, not on the floor, not under a pile of

things; carefully carry it with you; listen respectfully when it’s being read, taught, and
preached, etc.)

Lesson 8 – Good Soldiers


• A soldier’s life is not easy. What are some hard things a “real” soldier has to
endure? (difficult training, injuries, pain, many days away from home, attacks, etc.)
• Good soldiers work hard to please the one who has chosen them. Who has chosen
us to be His soldiers? (Jesus)
• How often does a follower of Jesus have to take up his cross and put on his
armor? (daily [every day])
• What is the Lord going to give those who fight the good fight, finish the course,
and keep the faith? (a crown of righteousness)
• Do soldiers normally wear crowns? (no; someday we will no longer be soldiers but
rulers with Jesus Christ)
