How to choose a clips affixed joint cover
Clip S : for structural
The extruded clips affixed joint covers successfully cover joints from 10 to 150 mm using specially
gaps varying in width
from 10 to 35 mm. developed spring clips.
The flat joint covers for facades, walls and ceilings are referenced as CJV profiles. The flat joint covers
referenced as CJH (light floors) and CJHL (heavy duty floors) profiles. The CJHL profiles have been
developped to withstand heavy pedesttrian traffic and light vehicles up to a maximum axle load of 6 kN.
Corner profile have same references with the letter «A» at the end.
The number which follows the letters always indicates the width of the joint cover in mm.
Clip SLL *: for structural
gaps varying in width Fixing clips
from 35 to 80 mm.
The joint covers can be affixed by using specially designed spring clips manufactured from stainless
steel which do not corrode and remain permanently flexible without loss
of elastic recovery, thus providing an extremely positive fixing. 4 models of fixing clips adapted for joint
widths from 10 to 150 mm are available from stock. These unique and particularly innovative clips are
protected by international patents.
The choice of the clip model will be based on the initial joint width.

Note : The above table indicates the minimum width of joint cover (S dimension) recommended according to the initial width of the structural gap (W). For example, a 70 mm joint
cover is recommended to cover a structural gap of 35-50 mm. Of course, a joint cover wider than 70 mm ( 90, 120, 140, 180 or 210 mm) can also be used.

WHAT IS AN EXPANSION JOINT ?
An expansion joint is an empty space, free of any material
between two parts of a structure designed to safely absorb
thermal expansion and contraction of building structures,
to absorb vibration or to allow horizontal, vertical or shear
movement due to soil settlement or seismic activity.

Series JDH 5.18

For gaps up to 500 mm
DEFINITION :
Floor expansion joint for interior and exterior use
made of 2 identical profiles usually from series
JDH 5.2 (cf. technical datasheet) linked to each
other with an aluminium supporting structure.
Series JDH 5.18 is suitable for all types of
finishes: concrete slab, screed, tiles, marble,
stone, carpet …
This profile allows large movements. Depending
on the initial gap and expected movement,
different models of profiles can be used : Series
JDH 5.2 profiles are available with standard or
smooth flexible inserts; or inserts with projection
+3 or +5 mm specially designed to be used along Series JDH 5.18 tiles finishing
with vinyl tiles (+3 mm) or carpet (+5 mm); profiles JDH 5.18
S
with brass or stainless steel capping are also L
available for a luxurious and aesthetical finishing,
or for use in food industry or hospitals ; profiles
with luxurious metal coverings for high class
projects (palaces, guest houses, hotels, etc.) can
also be supplied. Please refer to our technical
department. This range is particularly economical W
for extra large gaps.
B
COMPOSITION :
Profiles : depending on the expected traffic, profiles from Series JDH 5.02, will be installed for a standard use, Series
JDH 5.04 for a heavy traffic, JDH 5.50 or JDH 5.51 with brass or stainless steel capping for luxurious, industrial, or design
purpose. Profiles with side plates of a minimum height of 50 mm are recommended to ensure a good stability of the structure.
Heights of 65 or 80 mm will be preferred whenever possible.
The central supporting structure is supplied in aluminium. Its width and thickness will depend on the initial gap, the
expected movement and stress of the building. Bigger the gap is the thicker the central plate is. Refer to the table to make
sure to choose the right model.
MATERIALS :
Profiles : Extruded aluminium 6063 T6. In length of 4 meters.
Insert : Nitrile elastomer in rolls of 20 lm, available in black or grey. Other colors can be produced upon request, depending on
quantities.
• Nitrile properties: Elongation at break : ≥ 350 % ISO R 527-2 ; Tensile strength : ≥ 14N/mm² DIN 53504
• Fire resistance : B2 : self extinguishing
• Oils, bitumen, oxygen, acids and bases and micro organisms resistant.
Central supporting structure made of aluminium 20/10e or 30/10e thickness depending on the gap of the expansion joint.

INSTALLATION :
Profiles are fixed to the central plate using rivets. The
installation must be done by an approved contractor.
Once the central plate is fixed to the profiles, the system
has to be aligned with the gap. Then fix the profiles using
screws and plugs, or chemical anchoring or VED’POXY
pure epoxy in alternate fashion every 30 cm.
A wire mesh has to be installed in the central supporting
aluminium structure in order to prevent any cracks on the
Series JDH 5.18 carpet finishing surface which could occur because of the expansion joint
movements.
This wire mesh should be installed at half way in the
screed thickness.
CLEANING :
Series JDH 5.18, when properly installed, does not require
any specific maintenance. The flexible insert can be easily
replaced if necessary.

INSTALLATION :
1. Choose Series JF 1600 control joint profile according to the thickness of the tiles.
2. Apply tile adhesive around the junction using a serrated trowel.
3. Press the profile into the adhesive bed paying attention to its position.
4. Spread mortar over the entire surface of the joint.
5. Press in tiles firmly and align them so that they are flush with the surface. Lay the tiles without leaving any gaps.
6. Allow a joint of 2 mm around the profile.
7. Then fill the space between the tiles and the profile with grout.

DESCRIPTION
The VED’EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Dien Monomer) waterproofing membrane is

a high quality synthetic rubber.
Long lasting, quick and easy to install, highly flexible, it is ideal for waterproofing of
expansion joints.

PACKING AND STORAGE

The black VED’EPDM waterproofing membrane is available from stock in rolls of 20 meters and 1mm thickness.
Available widths 200, 300 and 400mm. Other widths upon request. Also available in thickness of 0,75 - 1,2 or 1,5mm upon request.
CHARACTERISTICS
• Watertight joint : allows water to flow.
• Allows all movements (horizontal, vertical and shear).
• High resistance to traction and to tearing.
• Compatible with all other waterproofing systems.
INSTALLATION
To be fixed using our special sealant for EPDM membranes on a clean and dry surface.

VEDAFLEX SIL
Silicon sealant
VEDAFLEX SIL is a single component silicone sealant with reduced modulus of

elasticity and neutral binding. It cures when in contact with atmospheric humidity and
produces an extremely flexible and resistant rubber. It is non-corrosive and does not
contain strong smell additives.
Applications
VEDAFLEX SIL perfectly adheres on surfaces commonly used in the building
industry : concrete, glass, aluminium, etc.
Chiefly recommended for :
• Watertightness of joint seals between concrete and structural carpentry
• Windows sealing
• Sealing of prefabricated concrete pieces
• Waterproofing of curtain walls
• All applications where inodorous mastic is needed

Specifications
VEDAFLEX SIL has been awarded Label SNJF 1st class without primer on glass, aluminium and concrete.
Conditionnement et stockage
VEDAFLEX SIL is supplied in 310 ml cartridges. It has a shelf-life of 12 months stored in a dry place between 5ºC and 25ºC.
Colours
White, grey, brown, black, bronze, ivory.
Installation
Substrates must be clean, free of dust, grease or any other material that prevent adhesion of silicon. Use appropriate cleaning
products according to the substrate.
Some substrates may require a primer. If not sure, always proceed to a preliminary test.
Do not paint Vedaflex SIL.

Material properties
Nitrile
Used for joint waterproofing profiles, nitrile has been developped according to DIN 18541. It is made from high quality raw
materials and offers larger capacities than commonly required.
Nitrile joint waterproofing profiles according to DIN 18541 has a very high coefficient of elongation at break, is extremely
resistant to chemicals and ageing and offers a permanent elasticity similar to that of rubber.
Joints are made quickly and economically using common thermoplastic welding techniques (due to better conductibility of
nitrile profiles, it is not recommended to use a welding hatchet of less than 300 watts power).
Nitrile joint waterproofing profiles are available in several shapes (the most usual ones) and are adapted to all sorts of
constructions whether demanding or not.
