*The displayed percentages are an example and may differ for other cases. The achieved percentage is function of the
action (load), the slab thickness, the load transfer devices and many other variables. Changing parameters always change
the achieved percentage for each load transfer system. Load transfer needs to be designed for each floor where loads are
suspected to be transferred across the joint.

DSV MILTON (2/2) Warehouse characteristics

DSV Canada’s new location in Milton, Ontario is a 1.1 million square foot (102,000 m2) complex. The facility
incorporates the most up-to-date features and logistics capabilities, including a 40-foot ceiling height and more
than 100 loading docks. It is a multi-client warehouse with state-of-the-art logistics capabilities and an
attached 3-floor, 35,000 square foot (3,258 m2) administrative office. This project represents the largest joint-
free floor in all of Canada.

The solution for the customer

Because joint-free flooring is still rather new to Canada and North America, doing such a large project joint free
with such great joint spacing was considered to be quite drastic by some. This floor design is 7” thick slab, 53
pounds of a type 1 hooked end steel fiber and utilized a Type K shrinkage compensating cement. The joint spacing
is 150 feet (45 m). The shrinkage compensating cement is designed to offset the shrinkage that occurs from the
concrete drying process
