LESSON GLOBAL POPULATIONS AND MOBILITY

1B
MODULE 3

Motivation

1. What idea does the picture convey? Do you think this is still happening now?
 The picture talks about people are migrating around the world for many reason Some people
move in search of work or economic opportunities, to join family, or to study. Others move to
escape conflict, persecution, terrorism, or human rights violations. Still others move in
response to the adverse effects of climate change, natural disasters, or other environmental
factors.
Learning Activities

Assessing the Rates!

Country: India
Birth Rate:The current birth rate for India in 2022 is 17.163 births per 1000 people
Death Rate:7.3 deaths/1,000 population,26,789 deaths per day,1,116 deaths each hour,19 deaths
each minute
Population Growth:The current population of India in 2022 is 1,417,173,173, a 0.68% increase
from 2021
Possible reason (for birth rate, death rate, and population growth)
 Birth rate -Infant mortality rate is very high in India due to hunger, malnutrition and poor
living conditions. So the fear of early death of their infants encourages the parents to have
more children.
 Death rate -
Rank Cause of Death % of Total Deaths (Ages 25-69)

1 Cardiovascular Diseases 24.8

2 Respiratory Diseases 10.2

3 Tuberculosis 10.1

4 Malignant and Other Tumours 9.4

 Population growth -
Decrease in the death rate due to improved medical facilities with the birth rate remaining
the same is one of the major causes of population growth in India. Illiteracy prevalent in major
parts of India make people believe that 'children are god's blessings' hence making them against the
concept of 'family planning'.

ASSESMENT
“My Stand”
1. find news experts or research about the roles of the Catholic Church in the Philippines,
particularly in its role in population growth and control.

Pope Francis visited the Philippines this week and reiterated the church's stance on birth control
in a press conference on the flight back to Rome. He emphasized the church's rejection of artificial
birth control, but also said that Catholics should use natural family planning methods.

2. Make a statement of your position to this role of the Catholic Church to reproductive health and
population growth in the Philippines.
My opinion of what Catholic stands about using artificial birth control is that we need to consider
that not all people in the Philippines are catholic for me they can Educated people but they cannot
force people what are they are trying to implement un least it’s a government law but if its coming
form religion people from other religion or group can follow or not according to there own will.
