Stating my strengths

Over the last couple of years, I have developed a fascination for the mechanical parts of
robotics, and I was excited to get started on building up knowledge for my future as a
mechanical engineer. There are skills I have already acquired, and there are ones that need
some attention and effort. In this essay, I will assess both of these points and elaborate.

Firstly, the ability to work as a team. All six years of high school, I have had the course
"research and development," which forces you to work together with people you have
never cooperated with before. The number of useful skills you learn, like; making
agreements, taking a leading role, or just simple planning, is of utmost importance in every
project-driven environment.
Secondly, for about two years now, I have been making 3D models for both 3D printing, and
fun. Also, the last two weeks of lectures and tutorials have given me a good understanding
of more than the basics regarding CAD modeling programs. Having a good comprehension
of how to operate such complex applications is crucial when designing intricate machines.
Various uses of the program can be; visualization, simulation, and automated machining.
On another note, I still lack the experience of manufacturing an actual prototype in the
workshop or working with steel. This inexperience will not last long, as I am already doing
tutorials, as well as making a prototype in a couple of weeks. Another positive is that I find it
fun to make workpieces in general, which has increased my willingness to learn and improve
on points that I have not completely mastered yet.

In conclusion, I possess both adequate skills, as well as points that still require work.
Working as a team and using Solidworks are major positives when it comes to project-driven
work, for example, to guide a group or to visualize a product. Constructing a physical
prototype still requires some attention, but at the rate its going, this will not be a problem in
the future.
