CASE INCIDENT
Era of Disposable workers
Q1) To what extent can business decisions (as opposed to economic forces)
explain deterioration in working conditions for many workers?
Ans: There is a lack of bond between workers and the organization, which leads to
workers leaving their jobs. Also, No incentive is provided for the extension of
working hours.
Q2) Do business organizations have a responsibility to ensue that employees have
secure jobs with good working conditions, or is their primary responsibility to
shareholders?
Ans: Yes, it is organization’s responsibility. Organizations should be responsible
for securing the jobs of their employees. The reason for this is if employees are
not satisfied and determined, the organization is not going to be productive and
will eventually suffer losses as a result.
Q3) What alternatives measures of organizational performance, besides share
prices, do you think might change the focus of business leaders?
Ans: I think employees attitude is an alternative, because that will ultimately
result in customer satisfaction and increasing the profitability of the firm.
Q4) What do you think the likely impact of the growth of temporary employment
relationships will be for employees attitudes and behaviors? How would you
develop a measurement system to evaluate the impact of corporate downsizing
and temporary job assignments on employee?
Ans: In my opinion, temporary employment positions won't have remarkably high
employee attitudes and behaviors. Temporary employment positions will only be
possible if the organization don’t have a satisfactory environment and employees
would love to quit their jobs instead of joining. To evaluate the impact of
corporate downsizing and temporary job assignments, I will conduct a controlled
experiment.
