Organizational Behavior: Its Basic


Nature
Organization:
Definition: Organization refers to
a group of people who work together in an organized way for
a shared purpose. In other words, organizations consist of
people, who alone and together in work groups strive to attain
common goals.

It can be understood as a social system which contain all formal


human relationships. The organization involve division of work
among employees and alignment of tasks towards the goal of
the company.

The field of organizational behavior deals with human behavior in organizations.


Formally defined, organizational behavior is
➢ The study of human behaviour in organizational settings, the interface
between human behaviour and the organization, and the organization itself
➢ a study which involves examining and analysing the human behaviour in an
organisation. An organisation may be divided into top-level(owners), middle
level(management) and low level(employees). Organisational behaviour
studies the interaction within these levels and how the people at different
levels respond or behave in a situation.

_ How can jobs be designed to enhance employees’ feelings of
satisfaction?
_ Under what conditions do individuals make better decisions than
groups?
_ What can be done to improve the quality of organizational
communication?
_ What steps can be taken to alleviate work-related stress?
_ What do leaders do to enhance the effectiveness of their teams?
_ How can organizations be designed to make people highly
productive?

Organizational effectiveness refers to how effectively an organization
achieves its desired goals. There are several factors to measuring organizational
effectiveness, including:
➢ Employee performance
➢ Effective leadership
➢ Company Culture
➢ Business process efficiency
Achieving organizational effectiveness relies on the collaboration of
employees, leaders, and processes. Every part of the organization works together
like a well-oiled machine; if one area is lacking, the whole system slows down.
