INTRODUCTION TO IBS

The Industrialised Building System is a construction technique whereby

components are manufactured in a controlled environment. The controlled
environment can be on-site or off-site and depends on the component manufactured
or the type of building being constructed. Industrialised Building System is the
Malaysian term used in Malaysian construction industry for prefabricated
construction or pre-fab in short. Its usage has seen an increase in the worldwide
construction industry. The system is commonly used in residential and commercial
developments in Malaysia.

Siste, industrial building (IBS) is a construction system that uses pre-cast

components (precast) provided at the factory based on orders by the contractor. Its
placement is aided by the use of machinery such as cranes. Among the key factors
in the selection of a pre-cast concrete system is that the time to complete the project
becomes shorter. While the main problem in the use of pre-cast concrete systems
for building construction is the coordination planning in the construction work of pre-
cast concrete structures. The use of the IBS system is enhanced and supported by
the Government of Malaysia with the issuance of Treasury Circular Letter (SPP)
number 7 of 2008 by the Ministry of Finance which requires the use of 70% IBS
content in the implementation of government projects. With the use of IBS method it
was found to be able to improve quality, productivity effectiveness in terms of cost
security fixation Completion date and high customer satisfaction compared to
existing or conventional construction methods.
INTRODUCTION

A nursery is a place where plants are propagated and planted to the desired
size. Most of the plants concerned are for gardening, forestry, or conservation
biology, rather than agriculture. Some nurseries specialize in certain areas, which
may include: propagating and selling small or bare root plants to other nurseries,
growing plant material to marketable sizes or retail sales. Nurseries may also
specialize in one type of plant: eg, ground cover, shade plant or rock garden plant.
Some produce bulk stock, either seedlings or grafts, of specific types for purposes
such as fruit trees for orchards, or timber trees for forestry. In this project, we will
build a mini nursery that has a single water flow. This project can be completed
together in groups and observed by our lecturers.

APPARATUS

-Grinder -C chanel iron -Batten iron

-Drill -Screw -Sesiku L

- Player -Marker -Iron scissor c chanel

PROCEDURE

• The first step you need to do is to make a preliminary sketch of the mini
nursery design you want to build along with its measurements.
• Next measure and mark your iron using a tape measure. Make sure to also
use an L square to get the right angle. Mark the whole part measured just now
using a marker pen.
• After finishing the measurement, use 6 c channel iron rods and 3 batten iron
rods. You can cut them using a grinder. For the iron cutting part use these
iron scissors. You can start by cutting the right and left sides of the iron. Then
break the iron.
• After finishing the cutting work, you can start making the work of connecting
the irons.
• Use an L square to get the right angle is highly recommended. Get a helper
for the connection process to make it easier and get good results.
• The connection of the channel and batten iron rod can be made using the
plan in the initial sketch that you have determined.
• Among the tips for the top, it is good to use c channel to make the surface
more flat when placing the vase. The vase will be more stable when the
surface is flat.
• Finally, for the covered area can be connected water drainage device. Now
you can arrange your flower pots on it.
RESULT
DISCUSSION

What we got while building this nursery is that the first thing is to have a
strong spirit of cooperation. In addition, when making a design, we need to choose a
design that is effective, strong and follows the latest fashion to be attractive. We
have to measure the c chanel iron and batten iron accurately. Next, the way of
installation and cutting also affects the strength and integrity of the mini nursery.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the objective of the experiment was achieved because we were

able to achieve what was discussed above.

ADVANTAGES OF IBS

• Produce high quality products and minimal waste, with the environmentfactory
work that is easier to control.
• Does not require conventional wood support and reduces support material,by
using a complete installation element or support system foron -site pouring
process.
• Produces a stronger and safer work platform with mounting
elementscomplete.
• Work is completed faster with the use of pre -assembled componentsto
replacepouring on site.
• Construction sites are safer, cleaner and more organized with a reduction in
the amount of waste, as wellthe number of workers on construction sites and
the small number of pre -assembled construction materials.
• Provide guarantees.
• Improve safety and work in a safe environment.
• Reduce disturbance to nearby buildings.
DISADVANTAGES OF IBS

• Lack of expert energy

- the use of IBS technology requires a skilled workforce to handle it
because IBS does not only involve the manufacturing process of the
structure, it also involves expert energy in the installation,
maintenance, and displacement of the IBS structure. The lack of
exposure to this technology makes the importance of the technology
underestimated by some developers and existing construction
companies.
• Poor quality materials
- -The production of IBS components is still proprietary and non-
standard, causing component prices to be uncontrollable. Quality
control among small manufacturers IBSweak causes the structure built
through IBS to be unstable and break easily. This can cause huge
losses due to the longevity of the building being shortened.
• High cost
- -When looking at the use of IBS technology, Malaysia really needs
experts who are forced to hire such experts from abroad to operate this
high-tech system because they are more efficient and skilled. So, the
construction cost is high. This factor can also be related in terms of the
cost of transporting IBS materials to be taken to the construction site
location. Heavy machinery must be used to carry and install these
components and it has not yet been taken into account the distance
traveled to the construction site in addition to being brought to the
interior.
IBS IMPLEMENTATION CHALLENGES AND PROBLEMS

• Skills in terms of lack of skilled or professional workers.

- Lack of exposure or knowledge to design among professionals
(architects, engineers) on IBS systems.
- Lack of skilled workers in component assembly, and project
management at construction sites.
• Standardization
- Production of IBS components is still "proprietary" and non-standard;
because the price of components is expensive.
- Lack of quality control among small producers of IBS and its innovative
products that can improve the aesthetics of the building.

IMPROVEMENT

• We want to move towards modernizing the national construction industry and

drive the concept of Open Construction as a long-term goal.
• Can reduce the use of foreign labor. then we can reduce some current
conflicts and issues especially in social, political, and issues about.
• Improvement of quality, productivity, safety and competitiveness in industrial
construction.
• The long-term goal of achieving an Open Construction System and
industrialization of the Malaysian construction sector.
