0 ADAPTIVE OF TECHNOLOGY IN CONSTRUCTION STAGE – BAD

The construction industry has always been at the forefront of technological advancements, constantly
evolving to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. In this project we as a contractor also adapt
the use of the technology in this project. By integrating this technology, we manage to cut time and cost
by reducing the use of materials.

The technology that we use in this project is Industrialized Building System (IBS) Modular System

7.1 IBS Modular System

IBS stands for Industrialized Building System, and it refers to a modular construction approach that
involves the prefabrication and assembly of building components off-site in a controlled factory
environment. The IBS modular system is a method of constructing buildings using standardized modules
or panels that are manufactured and assembled off-site before being transported to the construction
site for final installation.

The IBS modular system is designed to enhance construction efficiency, quality control, and productivity
while reducing construction time and costs. It involves the use of precast concrete, steel, or other
materials to create building components such as walls, floors, columns, beams, and facades in a factory
setting. These components are manufactured with precision and consistency, ensuring high-quality
standards and minimizing errors.

Most of the structures for this building are precast individually and were installed according to the
schedule. The process for the pre-casting for each structures are very similar with five steps which
include;-

• Planning – this process is crucial as we need to calculate the size of the structures to make sure
that it fits with each other and is up to scale.
• Making Formwork – in the process of making formwork we use 2 main materials which is PVC
model board and impra board. Each pieces are cut to measurements and held together by glue.
• Reinforcement – as for the rebar, we use stainless steel wire to act as rebar and for the BRC we
use chicken net.
• Casting – For the concrete mixture we use 1:1 mixture of one part of cement and one part of
fine grain sand, this to ensure that there is no honeycomb and the concrete could go through
that tight spaces with ease.
• Curing – We cure the structures for 3 days after we take off the formwork to ensure that the
cement are hardened properly
