Proposal – Green spaces and street art

Your local town council would like to improve the appearance of the town
by creating more green spaces and by introducing more street art such as
sculptures or wall paintings. Write a proposal for the council in which you
make specific suggestions about both green spaces and street art. Your
proposal should also explain how you think your suggestions will improve
the quality of life in your town.

Introduction:
Targu Mures has been a steadily growing city in the heart of Transylvania with many new
living facilities and workplaces established. However, the ranking of the city by quality of
life did not improve proportionately with the expansions.

Struggles:
These expansions caused big, ugly concrete buildings to be pulled up in the middle of the
city, while natural spaces such as parks were neglected, thus the town becoming more dark
and lacking life and nature. This current condition greatly worsens the reputation of Targu
Mures, that is why lately the town council decided to fight this problem with creating open,
green areas and street art to make our city colorful and enjoyable again.

Suggestions:
The city council should make the decision to establish large green spaces around town that
would not only benefit nature and wildlife, but the residents of the town as well. As an
example, a certainly popular place in Targu Mures would be a new park giving home to
sports fields, running tracks and outdoor workout machines with cutting edge technology. In
order to make the atmosphere of these green areas transmit that visitors are surrounded by
nature, there should be trees planted to raise new forests, thus making the city more green.
Furthermore, the council should declare a competition for residents to create modern street
artworks that would be exhibited in parks like these.

Benefits:
Not only the finished project would bring entertainment, sport, life and nature in the city, thus
enlarging the tourism and reputation of Targu Mures and enriching the quality of life, but the
process of creating could also include the people of the city. This would positively shift
residents’ opinions about the town management and also Targu Mures could become one of
the greatest cities of its country.
