Natural or Counting Numbers

- used to count objects


- start with 1, followed by 2, then 3, and so on
- smallest natural number is 1 and there is no largest natural number
- 0, negative numbers, fractions, and decimals are not natural numbers

Whole Numbers
- are counting numbers, including 0
- natural numbers are part of the set of whole numbers.
- all natural numbers are also whole numbers.
- all whole numbers are natural numbers except for 0 since 0 is not a natural number.
