Dear Mr. Blake,

In my Research Paper, I hope to answer the question: How do you ensure that students with special needs
have access to all academic, extracurricular, and social activities in a school system? I am interested in
determining all the factors that go into a special needs student succeeding in school, while also
understanding the hardships and challenges that they endure on a daily basis. Coming from a family of
teachers, I have seen the ups and downs of the school system and the weight that is put on the shoulders
of people in charge. I know I can make a change and use my gift to make people happier and healthier.

The Experiental Project I have chosen is to do acts of service to gain a better understanding of the daily
life of a student with Special Needs. I will be participating in a special needs prom and use my high
knowledge of baseball to be a coach during a Special Olympics event. I anticipate spending north of 20
hours on my community service and will use my resources to get in contact with the appropriate people,
organizations, and leaders. I am fortunate to have you as my mentor.
