McKibben 231

This quote stood out to me because it gave out a sense of irony towards the topic. It is as if he’s
challenging the readers to stop thinking in some way and start developing ideas towards his own
perspective. He employs evidence to make this paragraph even more ironic, like talking about Omega 3,
and then saying “sardines that moo”.

McKibben 231
I really liked the idea of the author comparing humans to predators, that even we could
exterminate even the deadliest of them all. It is also interesting how he implemented the idea of cow
herding into a climate change discussion, making us more morally aware of the situation at hand.

McKibben 232
This conclusion really got me thinking, because he is comparing opinions from two very different
famous people in different industries: fast food and music. In the end, he is bringing everything bac to
climate change, were the only opinion that truly matters is the atmosphere’s.
Singer 213
This paragraph is one of the most graphic and emotional in the whole essay. T starts by
mentioning how the case against animals is stronger when people think about the lives they lead prior
to being killed. He then starts giving very graphic and (maybe) obscene specifications about their death
that can bring everyone to become emotional towards the topic (with his use of pathos).

Singer 215
This is the paragraph that I liked the most from the two essays read for class. It is a clear example of how
he is using ethos to bring irony into the topic by citing Benjamin Franklin, one of the country’s greatest
figures. It is a rather comical example of how easily we can be persuaded to start believing in other
ideals and leave ours behind.
Singer 215
I really appreciated how Singer incorporated everyday examples into his argument to make his point
clearer to his readers. It is clear that he wants to persuade from every angle possible, and his last
resource is to use more common moral arguments that people will without a doubt argue in favor.
