Giant Squirrels Buried My Car!

By: Jeff Swiggum

One summer night, in a small town, suddenly every squirrel grew to be a giant squirrel. At first
everyone in the town panicked, but for the most part, they did not cause the widespread
destruction that everyone thought might happen. I mean they are squirrels. They pretty much
spent their time still not being able to cross roads effectively and chasing each other up tall
buildings. (ok, that last one was annoying but not really destructive.) But when fall came, their
instincts kicked into overdrive and their giant squirrel brains snapped. They started grabbing
anything they thought looked interesting, boxes, propane tanks, cars, and burying them for
winter. You will need to gather supplies to leave town and head to someplace safe like Arizona
where they have normal sized coyotes and scorpions (at least for now.) Get everything together
quick, you never know when a giant squirrel will come along and grab something to bury for
winter.

You are trying to gather supplies to leave town before the giant squirrels bury everything you
need. You will need one item from each category to leave town. Food, Weapons, Vehicle, and
Medicine. The first person to have one item in each category wins (well, potentially. You still
finish the round and there are tie breakers.)

2-6 players. Hand out a player sheet to each person. Randomly select one person to start. They
will be the active player. The active player takes all six of the six sided dice and rolls them. You
are trying to create groups of numbers that will match one of the items. You get two rerolls of
any number of dice. You may keep some dice and reroll others, or reroll all the dice. You may
stop whenever you want if you have the numbers you need. When you do, circle the item to
mark that you have it. While you have the item, you can use its special ability as well. If you did
not use all of your dice to complete an item, the remaining dice can be used by your opponents
to mark pickup points. If you used your two rerolls or any extra rerolls you have and cannot use
the numbers anywhere on your sheet, a giant squirrel attacks and the player on your right
selects an item on your sheet to be buried. Cross it off, it is no longer usable for you. Also the
opponents get to use all of the numbers you rolled as pickup points. Once everyone has noted
their point use, pass the dice to the player on your left and continue.

Reroll: This is used just like one of your two free rerolls. You can mark that it is spent at
any time during your turn. It can only be used on your turn after you have already used your two
free rerolls. You may reroll any number of dice. You may keep using rerolls as long as you have
them. Once you use a reroll mark it on your sheet as used. If you gain an item that allows you
to reroll, you cannot use it that turn as you already used the dice to get the item. If an item with
a reroll is buried, you lose the reroll as well. If it is buried at the start of your turn, you may spend
the reroll to use after your two free rerolls for that turn. If you choose not to use the third reroll
that turn, it is lost.
Squirrel Attack: This can be used immediately once it is obtained, or later in
the game. If it is attached to an item, and the item is buried, it will be lost. You can use it before
you bury the item. To use the Squirrel attack, select one player any time before or at the
beginning of their turn, or immediately after their turn. The same person cannot be selected
twice in a row. Select one item on their sheet to be buried. The player crosses it off and it can
no longer be obtained by them. The item can be one they have gotten already, or one they
have not gotten yet. It cannot be an item with a check mark in the box saying that it cannot be
buried. When a person has 4 items, they are a possible winner and you can no longer target
them with Squirrel attacks. So you will want to use these to target people with 3 items as they
are about to win.

Squirrel Defense: Some items allow you to stop a squirrel attack. If

someone targets you with a squirrel attack, after they choose what item should be buried, you
may use the Squirrel defense to stop the attack. Mark off on your sheet that it has been used.

Pickup Points: After the active player has used all the dice that they want to, if there are any
remaining numbers left, any opponent may use those numbers to mark off matching numbers
under Pickup Points. When you complete a row, you will gain a squirrel attack or a reroll. You
can use the Squirrel attack as soon as you get it if you like. Rerolls can be used on your turn.
Abilities gained from Pickup points cannot be targeted to be buried.

The First person to have an item in all four categories is potentially the winner. They are on their
way out of town so they can no longer be the target of Squirrel attacks. They also cannot use
any squirrel attacks they may have on others. Finish off the round until you get back to the
player that started. If any of those players have 3 items, they may be able to also gain a fourth
item and become a potential winner. In this case use the Medicine roll as a tie breaker.
Whoever has the highest number wins. If you have the same number, whoever has the most of
that number wins. If you tie on that also then the game is a draw and the squirrels win.
