Individual project for fourth-year BSc students

1. Consider the following issues in the context of a local level administration, such as a
town or district that you are familiar with:
a) What institutions exist in the administrative area requiring any type of geographic
information?
b) What are the major types of geographic information that they need for their
activities?
c) Which institutions can be potentially responsible as collectors or providers of
information?
d) Which institutions can be identified as potential users?
e) What are the potential sources of the geographic data?
2. Using your own data, create metadata for the following questions.
i. thematic data with a geographic coordinate system (ideally at the national or
Ethiopian level).
ii. local-level data with projected coordinate systems
iii. imagery or an aerial photograph.
3. Discuss the principles, components, and stakeholders of each of the SDIs and argue their
experiences (positive and negative) in applying SDI.

N.B.: Make sure that it is a short and well-organized essay. Do not go over the maximum of 5
pages and do not go under the minimum of half pages (1.5 spaces with Times New Roman font
type and font size 12).
