“How can growth contribute to a world that is sustainable and

resilient through understanding my responsibility to self, others,

and this place?”

Good morning and happy Sunday to all of our Ian Bazalgette families. I hope this finds you enjoying the last
weekend prior to us starting up again tomorrow. For those new to Ian Bazalgette, allow me to introduce this
message. I will take time to reflect on where we are at in supporting your child in learning and share where we are
going through these messages on a weekly basis. It is where you can see below some of the critical dates that are
approaching and help get a sense of what is happening at your child’s school. We know how important
communication is and use this as one part of our approach to effective communication. I hope these messages
support you in being a significant part in your child’s school experience.

Above you will see the guiding question that we have this year at Ian Bazalgette School. We believe in leading our
work with a “Questioning Pedagogy” not an “Answering Pedagogy”. As such we will use our question centered
around “Growth” as our major theme this year. We believe that there is the possibility of growth in all of us and we
will begin our year tomorrow with our students with that theme.

For tomorrow we have all students arriving for an 8:15 start time in class. We will have the doors open well before
that for those students who arrive early. It is our routine to have the doors open in the morning at around 7:45.
Students are welcome to come into the school at that time. We are asking our grade 6’s to once again come in
through Door #4 – the one closest to their classrooms. Our grade 7, 8, 9 students can come in through doors #5 and
the Front Door and make their way to their classes from there. We need to remind parents that if they have business
at the school that you please come to the front door and check-in through the main office.

Tomorrow we will be asking our grade 6 students to make their way to the main gymnasium to start their day there.
Class lists will be on the wall and we ask students to find their names and remain there with their homeroom teacher.
The teacher will then take the students to their room to begin the day. Our grade 7 students will find their
homeroom lists down the Science Hallway, the grade 8’s in the Main Hallway and the Grade 9’s will find their in
the Bistro. Students who do not find their names on any list will come to the main office and will be supported
there. If any parents have business tomorrow and need to connect with the office, we are asking you to make your
way to the Learning Commons where we will have a number taking system and will support parents accordingly.
The main office space will be busy and we want to have a good process in place to help our community efficiently
as possible. We thank everyone for your support of our Learning community as we start the year up again.

Students only need to bring with them a lunch and that’s it. School supplies have been purchased and we will have
those resources available for students as they need them.

There will be much to share through the year and we hope you have a fabulous Sunday out there. We look forward
to meeting your though the year as we support your child in their learning.

Take care and stay well.
