To make students understand as to where to use different kinds of

5) PLAIN SEAM, TOP SEAM, DOUBLE
TOP SEAM
• APPLICATIONS: - It is used in seams of jeans, in side
seams of skirts, dress slacks, finishing belt ends, ends of
waist bands on jeans, collars or cuffs and attaching elastic
to waistline.

Intro to Different kinds of seams and stitches done by SNLS
(Single Needle lock Stitch Machine).

• AIM AND OBJECTIVE


To make students understand the process to join two or more
layers of fabric pieces together.

Students are able to understand the kinds of seams and their
uses in different types of garments.
6) FRENCH SEAM

• PROJECT BRIEF
French seam is done to enclosed raw edges of the fabric for
a neat finish.

• AIM AND OBJECTIVE


To make students understand the process to join two or
more layers of Fabric Pieces together .and enclosed the raw
edged of the seam for neat finish.

Seams Studies under the classification and their uses on
different parts of the Garment.
7) RUN AND FULL SEAM

• PROJECT BRIEF
Intro to Different kinds of seams and stitches done by SNLS
(Single Needle lock Stitch Machine).

• AIM AND OBJECTIVE


It is useful for keeping seam allowances flat and covering
edges.

Seams Studies under the classification and their uses on
different parts of the Garment.
8) LAPPED SEAM

• APPLICATIONS
It is commonly used for rain wear, and edge stitching front
facings on jackets and dresses.

Lapped Seams the two layers overlap with the wrong side of
the top layer to give finish

• AIM AND OBJECTIVE


Lapped seams are typically used for bulky materials that do not
ravel, such as leather and belt.

as surface creation and can be used to decorate clothing and
home furnishings.

of many ways they can embellish fabric using just thread and
sewing machines to stitch it.

To make students understand the kinds of zipper attachments
and their uses.

Students can differentiate kinds of zippers and their different
attachment techniques with using suitable foot attachment.
11) NECK FINISHING WITH FACING

Intro to Different Neckline and their Finishing process using
paper fusing or fusing paper.

To be able to make students understand the kinds of finishes
can be given on different types of necklines.

Students are able to create neckline design variations and
can develop any design using above finishing technique.
12) NECK FINISHING WITH PIPING

Intro to Different Neckline and their Finishing process using
paper readymade piping and handmade piping both

• AIM AND OBJECTIVES


To be able to understand students the kinds of finishes can be
given on different types of necklines using piping techniques

• LEARNING OUTCOME
Students are able to create neckline design variations and can
develop any design using above finishing technique and their
multi uses.
13) EVEN AND HEM, CONTINUOUS
AND KURTA PLACKET

Intro to Plackets and the openings in the upper part of trousers
and skirts or at neck or sleeve of a garment.

To be able to make students understand the kinds of
plackets they can use as an opening of the garments
using different kinds of plackets variations.

Students prepare samples of different plackets after knowing
different attachment technique of the plackets and their uses.

parts of the Garment.

To be able to make students understand the kinds of
pockets and their attachment technique so that they can
well understand while designing a garment

Students have made types of pockets samples and got to know
their technique while stitching the samples.
15) GATHERS- SINGLE AND DOUBLE

Intro to gathers where shortening the length of fabric
technique is included.

• AIM AND OBJECTIVES


To be able to understand students the technique that how to
shorten the fabric lengthwise with using gathering techniques
and uses to create any puffs in skirts and sleeves as well

• LEARNING OUTCOME
We learnt different gathering techniques to shorten the fabric
length through sewing machines while pulling thread.
16) KNIFE AND BOX PLEATS

• PROJECT BRIEF
Intro to Knife pleats and box pleats and the techniques to add
fullness in the garment

• AIM AND OBJECTIVES


To be able to understand students the most basic sewing
technique for pleating and appropriate for variety of household
projects and most commonly used for clothing.

• LEARNING OUTCOME
We learnt different pleating techniques to shorten the fabric
length through sewing machines while adjusting the length
of the fabric.
17) BASIC PATTERN SET

• PROJECT BRIEF
Intro to the Basic pattern set including Basic bodice front
and back and skirt front and back and basic pattern to stitch
together to make a complete Garment.

• AIM AND OBJECTIVES


To be able to make students understand the most basic
techniques to attached basic pattern set together most
commonly used for clothing.

• LEARNING OUTCOME
We learnt different pleating techniques to shorten the fabric
length through sewing machines while adjusting the length
of the fabric.
COURSE OUTCOME

• To be able to judge the right kind of finishes that have to be


given to different kinds of fabric.

• To create basic garment parts and various designs elements


required for a garment.
PERSONAL REFLECTION

• This Module of Garment Manufacturing Techniques was in


itself a great learning experience. Garment Manufacturing is
very interesting and important as it helped me to interpret
various kinds of fabrics, understand it with technical ability
and connect it to production.

• Learning about the basics of garment manufacturing,


understanding the different types of machines and its parts has
been altogether a great learning outcome for this module.

• The most interesting part for me was the making of Basic


garment set by applying all that we learnt in this module.

• It was indeed a learning experience as a whole.
