VIATORES PALMA's PAHAYAHAY

The Concept

Along with the emerging modern designs and the goal to achieve
sustainability with structures that are adaptive with the changes in the environment, a
Viatores Palma, also known as the “travelers palm” inspired beach front resort that
will cater all the needs of the users. In connection with the travelers palm, this beach
front resort will serve as a place to relax or “pahayahayan” to those planning to travel
and have a escape with nature. The resemblance of the leaves of a palm tree will be
seen on the top view. And as a primary concept, we made use of its material and
incorporated it in every structure of the buildings.

Materials used: Bamboo, Bamboo Lattice, Bamboo Splits, Wood Planks, Wooden
Panels, Nipa Leaves, Concrete Posts.

Landscapes: Palm trees, Coconut trees, Banana Trees, Agoho Trees, and Anahaw

Mother Unit

Making use of neovernacular materials and as well as materials that are

present in the area, this mother unit displays two active volcanoes in Bicol, the
Bulusan and Mayon and two of the trios in Albay which is Malinao and Masaraga.
These mountain ranges will be observed on the structures at the second floor. Except
from these mountain ranges, and imitating the shape of a fish, a native product known
as “salakot” or the buri hat is also a core inspiration of this structure.

Office Space

A structure imitating the shape of a Philippine Eagle, a bird known in the

country, this office space is a mixture of modern and vernacular materials that
compliments with one another. The glass windows that maximizes daylight, nipa
roofing for better ventilation and wooden panels that allows air to travel within the
structure freely.

Main Conference Area

A roof that depicts the perfect cone shape of the majestic Mayon Volcano,
with materials that are present in the area, this main conference area is an example of
sustainable structure. Made by wooden posts and bamboo posts, incorporated with
wooden panels and boards. These materials are proven to strengthen as time pass by
which assure it to be able to withstand extreme weather condition. With the wooden
posts that serves as the wall themselves, this structure is able to breath because the air
is free flowing inside the vicinity.

when users want to give themselves a treat. This spa is a great way to pamper
themselves after or before swimming.

cater. Located at the front, this parking area will provide easier access to the main
road while not being able to enter the resort premises for safety purposes.

Open and Close Cottages

Typical yet sustainable. The open and close cottages are made of bamboo that
is proven and tested to be sustainable enough to withstand weather conditions. As a
commonly used material, we made use of bamboos and wood for a more naturalistic
approach to these designs.

Pool
Except for the beach, we have included a pool for the adults and the
youngsters for those who wants to swim in an enclosed space. There is also a presence
of a hot tub for better relaxation and those wanting to soak themselves in hot waters.
Hot tubs are proven to be a effective in aiding some illness.

Clinic
Unlike any other resorts, we added an additional blow up for this resort which
is the Clinic. This clinic will provide first aid and will serve as an respondent for
emergencies. This will be a way to better address health concerns while guests are
trying to relax.

Souvenir Shops
Visiting a beautiful resort, there is a need for something that will serve as a
remembrance of it. Thus, we decided to add some souvenir shops where guests can
buy souvenirs that will remind them of the best experience this resort will give them.
