Module 9: Indolence of Filipino Learning Activity April 1, 2022
The Indolence of the Filipinos is a study of the reasons why the people did not work hard
during the Spanish regime, as was previously stated. Rizal stated that the Filipinos were
industrious and hardworking long before the arrival of the Spaniards

First, the taxes were so high that a significant proportion of their earnings went to the
government. They were reduced to inaction when the object of their labor was removed and
they were exploited. Second, there was a crooked system of education. What was being taught
in the schools were repetitive old and outdated information and high education cost (tuition fee).

As a solution, we as Filipinos must be wise and critical in selecting a leader who will
provide us with what we deserve and the life we deserve.
