Overview of the System

A special variant of the Six-Button Control Head operates the Valor Light Bar. The light bar is a
standard serially-controlled light bar with a custom control-head configuration.
Standard Installation for Light Bar Control
Follow the installation procedure for the control head and light bar in the instructions provided with
each product. To modify the flash pattern, follow the instructions provided with each product.
Operating and Programming the System
The control head is shipped fully programmed with default button functions and flash patterns.
No further programming is necessary unless a change from a default flash pattern is required. To
program the flash pattern for the Six-Button Control Head, follow the instructions included with the
control head. Mode 1 has nine different patterns available for selection and Mode 2 has a different
set of nine patterns available for selection.
With the proper connections at power up, a button on the keypad blinks when the system starts up.
All buttons then glow dimly until pressed. A press of a button sends a serial function command to
the light bar, a buzzer beeps, and the button glows at full brightness. A second press of the button
either initiates a different function or turns off both the serial function and the button.
Keypad Configurations for the Special Valor Control Pad
The illustration in this section shows the keypad configuration with button functions for the custom
Six-Button Control Head for the Valor Light Bar. To select a keypad other than the default, follow the
instructions included with the control head (doc. no. 2562360).

There are 18 different keypad layouts available as shown in the following figures.
