16 June 2006 Audio Module Information & VDR-100G2/S
Installation Manual Update

Message:
Due to recent changes to the Audio Module’s DIP-Switch settings for adjusting Phantom Voltage
status, pages 88-89 of the VDR-100G2/S Installation & Maintenance Manual have been updated.

The current version of the Installation & Maintenance Manual is Rev1.5.

Please find the relevant pages attached to this bulletin. It is recommended that the receiving
personnel print and distribute these pages for replacement in the above mentioned manual.
Once the pages have been replaced the attached amendment page should be signed and dated
by the person responsible for making the replacement.

9.3.2 Adjusting Phantom Voltage

Phantom voltage is used to power the preamplifier of a condenser-type microphone. The
following table details the different models of microphones, their type, and phantom voltage
status.

Part Part No Type Phantom Voltage

Outdoor Microphone RT-930 & RT-930A Dynamic OFF

Indoor Microphone RT-2100 Condenser ON

VHF N/A N/A OFF

Table 9.2 - Phantom Voltage Status

Note! Phantom voltage is adjusted differently depending on the Revision Number

of the Audio Module. The Revision Number of the Module can be determined by
its Serial Number, which is located at the bottom of the unit. See Sections below
for more information.

9.3.2.1 Adjusting Phantom Voltage on Audio Module (Rev. 3)

The phantom voltage in Revision 3 Audio Modules (Serial Number AMX011168 and higher
(except AMX011170 and AMX011195)) is adjusted via DIP-Switches S2 – S5 (as shown in
Figure 9.14 - Phantom Voltage DIP-Switches (Rev.3)).

9.3.3 Adjusting the Gain
If the volume of the audio captured is either too low or too high, it will be necessary to adjust the
gain (adjust the resistance value). To adjust the gain a technician must tune the potentiometers
(pots). A multimeter, which provides an Ohm reading, is required for this process.

Before adjusting the gain, it is necessary to understand which pots correspond to which input.
Figure 9.15 - Pot/Input Relation below illustrates the pot/input relation.
