The Benefits of a Survival Exercise – Essay

The first instinct that comes to mind when you are in danger is to run. This
is what survival is about: developing a set of instincts and achieving a level
of skills which are to be used in situations that may become a threat to
one’s life. There is no doubt that a survival exercise is needed in order to
help students get an insight into living conditions they are not accustomed
to and make them realise the importance of teamwork.

First of all, it is essential for students to experience new things and get out
of their comfort zone. For this reason, facing a challenge which implies
living in unfamiliar conditions might help them understand the variety of
lifestyle. Moreover, they are given the opportunity to improve their
knowledge regarding nature.

Afterwards, the benefits of working together have long been established.

The key of teamwork lies in effort, organisation and goodwill. Even
though interacting with people is a part of our daily life, it is of greater
importance to learn how to be useful and help your teammate in a
jeopardising situation. However, there are those who argue that self-
sufficiency overcomes teamwork when talking about survival.

To conclude, the project comes with multiple surviving lessons for

students to benefit from. Not only do they learn to work as a team in
different surroundings, but they are also being prepared for life in the same
time.
