Integration of JSON device files

Question:

With the “Powermanager Device Engineer” tool, JSON device files can be created for your own device
types and imported into the software. JSON device files are available for download as a complete
download for selected devices that are not included in the regular scope of functions of Powermanager.

How can these be integrated into the system?

Answer:

The procedure is also shown using the example of the JSON device file for the PAC1020 measuring
device.

1. Preparation

Download the ZIP archive of the device file, copy it to the Powermanager system and unzip it.

Then insert or integrate the folders contained therein (data, panels, pictures - depending on the
device file, the existing folders may differ) in the existing folder of the Powermanager project.

The Powermanager project can be found e.g. under:

C:\Siemens\SENTRON\powermanager\MyProject\

2. Powermanager login

For the further steps, the Powermanager logon must be with administrator permission (e.g. user
“defaultadmin”).

3. Import of JSON device file

Open the engineering mode, scroll to “Third Party Device Type”

... and navigate to the import for JSON devices.

Here select the JSON import file which is located among the files previously copied into the project in
the folder „Data\JSON_Devices\PAC1020\“.

4. Create device

In the device selection, the device is now available as a separate type and can be created using it.

The further procedure is identical to the device types that are normally available in the system.
